Tuna questions
I'm trying to find other ways to get protein in. I'm sort or a picky eater and not a fan of fish. However as I've gotten older and even since my surgery in march 2016 my taste buds have changed. I'm willing to try tuna as a good source of protein. That being said, anyone have good ideas on how to make canned tuna taste well or are the tuna creations pouches any good? I thought about trying them since they have different flavors. Any advice, input or recipies would be greatly appreciated!!
I just make it with some chopped celery and red onion with lite mayo. When I eat it I sometimes put a little mustard on it.
I eat it because its a good source of protein, it was never something I would eat all the time cause I loved it! The things we have to do post-op! LOL
Some of the menu posters just have it with a tbsp. or two of balsamic dressing.
Hi! I am a huge fan of the sweet and spicy tuna packets. I can just eat them right out of the packet but sometimes use flat out bread. I also like albacore tuna (I will make a tuna melt using about 1/3-1/2 can with salt and pepper) on 1/2 a flat out topped with shredded cheddar cheese and then just flip a few times on the stove top.
I like it with 2 tbsp balsamic dressing. It's not too dry, and it adds a little kick!

Good for you... I am still trying to like tuna. Used to love it, now it bothers me. But lots of people here eat it with balsamic vinegar.
I prefer tuna packed in water, and I don't get the albacore (I find it to be too dry). I always add some salt and pepper and mayonnaise. Then, I either add diced vidalia onion or diced dill pickle. They add crunch! It's an awesome source of protein, and I especially like it when I haven't been to the grocery store in a few days and don't have fresh protein in the fridge. I buy mine at Costco - it's super economical.
I used to like the tuna creations when they made garlic herb but they stopped making that one and I'm not a huge fan of the other flavors. As far as the regular canned or packets of tuna I just started using a new recipe that I found here on OH and like. A little plain fat free greek yogurt, one tsp. of mayo, a little hot sauce and a squirt of spicy mustard. Try it.....you might like it too! It's a little different but real good!

I love the lemon pepper and the ranch packets for lunches... celery, green onion, I use Greek yogurt. Then scoop it with cucumber or into cheese cups http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/2016/05/party -food-crunchy-cheese-cups.html or onto tomato slices and then turned into "melts" http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/2015/09/you-s ay-tomato-i-say-tomato-recipes.html Mixed in rinsed, drained can of chickpeas or cannelini beans with a little pesto and balsamic is yummy too.
