Good Morning Menu Friends! How is everyone? I am great! Last night we took the dogs out for a hike and we ended up coming home in the dark! It was only 6:15 when we got home but as dark as if it was 11pm!! Makes me want to hibernate LOL I went to bed early last night and I feel like I had a good sleep! Feeling energized today!
QOTD: Have you ever been in a situation pre or post surgery where you were with someone and they were fat shamed in front of you? So on Saturday on our drive up to Niagara Falls it was hubby driving, me, my MIL & my SIL. So my SIL is very short and obese, my MIL is also very short but slim to average weight. My SIL has had weight problems her whole life, my MIL has always been either very slim or average. So while driving my SIL says next Summer we should do the Zip Line adventure by the Falls. I immediately said okay and hubby immediately said to his sister "Hells Yes, would love to, let's do it!!!" Well doesn't my MIL from the back seat say "in a joking manner" to my SIL "oh you are way too fat for that ride, there is no way you can go up in that, they don't take fat people like you and they won't lift you off the ground!" Well people I lost it!! I don't care if it was my MIL 75th birthday or not I went off! Hubby was really upset to and demanded his Mom apologize to his sister immediately. What made it worse was my SIL just brushed it off and said to me and hubby "oh she says crap like that all the time, I just ignore her." Needless to say, I didn't think it was "funny," I am upset my MIL says it "all the time" and not sure if I am just super sensitive but I am still bothered by the whole scene.

Happy?? Election Day!!!
QOTD: My younger sister has always been MO. My parents have been heartless over the years with their comments. Once saying she was too fat to be in my wedding party. They have not fat shamed me, but I sometimes wonder what has been said behind my back. They believe this "tough love" approach is successful, NOT!

Do you have any other siblings?
I'm a parent of 3 overweight children, sadly. I'm trying to make healthier choices for me and for them. My husband is the only one without a weight problem, and he's the one that eats the most junk... I've been nagging him for years and it's finally started to sink in. He works in a grocery store and so does a lot of our grocery shopping. And he packs the kids lunches. He's finally starting to make an effort to pack healthier stuff but it's been a long road.
Fortunately, our kids do have great self esteem. They have never been teased about their weight, and have never had problems making friends. The boys are kind of borderline as far as the weight goes. I really worry about my daughter though.
RNY Jan 12, 2017 Lost 137 lbs but regained 60.
77 lbs lost and counting!
Losing the regain! I got this!
Hi I'm the oldest of 5. All of us had a short time of "chubbiness" at puberty, but the middle sister kept the weight plus more thru the years. I became MO after a hysterectomy 16 yrs ago. Not sure how that matters, but...
I have 2 boys, 20 and 22. Both are average weight, muscular, but both complain about being fat :( They grew up with my increasing weight issues and are really surprised to see old, thin pictures of me.
Glad that your kids have good self esteem. I think seeing you gain control over food will be a positive influence!!
I have 3 very young (step) granddaughters. My changing body will called "Gramma Pat getting healthy", without bringing the word weight into it.
My husband works in a grocery store as well, he's a butcher. Helps with my meaty diet!!! LOL

I have wondered the same thing Pat, when I was MO what did my MIL say about me behind my back. She knows I have no problem standing up for myself (or anyone for that matter) so I think she fears saying something to my face as she knows I will rip her a new one.
Dinner sounds amazing! I am coming over!!!! Great menu!
I'm with you on the dark bit. DH and I went for our after-work walk from 5-6 p.m. and it was very dark by the time we got back to the car. We wear headlamps and reflective vests this time of year, but I really hate that it will soon be dark by the time I leave work.
QOTD: Hasn't happened to me but that was lousy of your MIL especially since SIL says it happens all the time. Probably contributes to her weight issues. The mind is a powerful thing.
B: Decaf coffee w/scoop of vanilla GNC protein powder
L: 2 oz roast beef, 1 string cheese
S: .5 oz pork rinds
D: Gonna try Eggface's Ricotta Bake made w/ground beef to please hubby. Been meaning to do this for a while and just keep forgetting. Last night DH said I sure could eat some lasagna. I mentioned the recipe and he said that sounds good let's try it.
E: 8 miles (40 minutes) on the stationary bike (already done).

It really hit me last night when I honestly thought when we got back from our hike with the dogs it must have been 9pm or 10pm and it was only friggin 6:15pm, oh vey!! We also wear reflective gear, have very powerful (and crazy expensive flashlights, like the kind the Military use) and our dogs wear reflective collars and have special flashing lights, better to look a little funny but BE SEEN!
I think what you said pr31 is super powerful and it really resonated with me... "probably contributes to her weight issues... the mind is a powerful thing" that is so so so so TRUE. And my SIL does for sure have self confidence issues, and I am still upset at my MIL.
I never did try the ricotta bake by EF (eggface) but I know a lot of people who did and love love it!
Last night I cooked up 2 pounds of hamburger, mixed chunky spaghetti sauce in with it for our dinner tonight. I will make rigatoni pasta for hubby his fav and I will just eat the hamburger & pasta sauce with lots of grated Parmesan cheese on it, it satisfy's my craving for that spaghetti & pasta "flavour" if that makes sense. Keep us posted on how it goes with the ricotta bake.
That reminds me, the other day hubby went out after work with a work mate and he had pizza & beer. I don't eat pizza post surgery and I don't drink (just a personal preference) but hubby came home and said to me "oh god the pizza was so good, I miss pizza" it made me realize that I do the cooking in our house so he pretty much eats the "WLS" way and I need to remember he didn't have surgery and let him have his favourites as well just because I can't or won't does not mean I should deprive him LOL LOL
Great menu and great job on getting your 8 miles on the bike so early!!!
You and your hubby sound like good people.
I was at a concert last year, and there were two skanky bimbos making fun of a heavy woman sitting in front of them. It was pre-concert, so I could hear them s******ing and then one of them whipped out her phone and took a picture of the woman. I'm dreadfully clumsy (and mildly passive aggressive), so it was a SUCH a shame when I accidentally lost my balance, stumbled, and grabbed seat and the back of the shirt of the picture-taking skank. Oops. "OMG, I'm SO SO SO sorry!! My balance SUCKS since I lost 150 lbs! Are you okay???" ( My balance really does suck. ) My husband knew what was up. He gave me the raised eyebrow but didn't say a word. I wasn't brave enough to confront the floozy directly, but I was okay with exacting a little Karma on her; accidentally, of course.
I woke up in between a memory and a dream...
