Good morning Menu Friends! How is everyone? How was your weekends? Mine was great! We had an wonderful time with my MIL for her bday dinner in Niagara Falls Saturday night. And Sunday was sunny and a warm for November so we put up the Xmas lights, cleaned the back patio, and took the dogs for an extra long hike. It was a great weekend!
QOTD: Is there a food that you just can't let into your home as it's a slippery slope for you? Well not sure if you all know but for me pre surgery I had a major sweet tooth (well actually I still do I have to fight it every single day!! Birthday cake was my downfall and I mean eat a whole cake by myself pre surgery!!! So Saturday after dinner my MIL invited us back to her place for bday cake. I literally could feel a panic attack happening. Bday cake for me is literally an addiction like a drug addict. I looked at my husband and gave him the "eyes" that begged "can we skip cake, please say no to cake???" So we go in and don't have cake just some coffee but then on our way home I notice something in the back seat. I ask hubby what it is and he says "oh Mom sent us home with bday cake." Note she sent us home with a lasagna pan of cake, yes I am not even exaggerating!! Well let the panic ensue!! I was saying to him " why, why did you accept the cake, you know I can't be around cake, I CAN'T BE AROUND CAKE!" Well as usual hubby talked me off the ledge and told me he would throw it in the freezer and then just get rid of it. So did I overreact, yes a bit but those of us with food addictions know it's a terribly slippery slope that it's never just "one bite" or "one chip" or "one glass of wine" or whatever your forbidden food is. And that in my opinion is how regain starts, that's how you don't get to goal, that's how you convince yourself you can eat around the surgery. Every day is hard work to stick to my plan of eating and stick to the rules. Birthday Cake be dammed! LOL

I LOVE. birthday cake! White cake with buttercream icing is a fave. But potato chips are another one. Both can easily be devoured very quickly.
Today i I have a protein shake for breakfast and eggs for lunch. I should be getting a call from DH any minute as to what's for dinner. I'm thinking chicken and veggies. I've been doing intermittent fasting in order to be able to wear a certain dress for my work Christmas party. I'm down 10 lbs which will also hopefully impress the surgeon when I meet him in 17 days. And then the countdown to surgery can begin!
RNY Jan 12, 2017 Lost 137 lbs but regained 60.
77 lbs lost and counting!
Losing the regain! I got this!

Morning!
my weekend was great! Girl's weekend was fun! And there were plenty of wls friendly foods!
Qotd: I hear you loud and clear on that one. I can't keep crackers or pasta in the house.
couple of weeks ago at a post op session with the dietician, she suggested we add triscuits to our daily plan. It literally took me a solid week to get them out of my head and shake it off.
Menu:
protein shake with pb2
L: I'm going to try tuna with balsamic dressing. You have me intrigued!
D: tbd grocery shopping needs to happen.
have a great day everyone!
My dietician suggested at my 6-week post-op visit that I might add a bowl of oatmeal now and then. Although I am not a huge fan of oatmeal, I have had this craving for it ever since. Once I read the label contents and saw the carb count I was able to resist, but that sure gets into your head... good thing no one suggested that I eat Triscuits.

Good Morning. Going to see my mom and spend the day with her. I am looking forward to it.
The answer to the question is white Oreos I can't be near them. They ended up in my cart yesterday at the store. I ate three. I bought them and threw them in the trash. I know that was a crazy thing to do. I thought I would be able to take them to my AA meeting. I just knew I would eat more when I got home. Gotta love the addiction.
Veteran's day is one I never put much thought into till the past few years. I would think about it if I heard someone talked about it. Or if I saw something on TV. I have a few male friends who are older but they are near and dear to my heart. The three of them were in Vietnam. Two of them I see a few times a week. They are proud men *****ally do not talk about being there. One of them I know had to deal with some major stuff that I am sure was horrendous. He never talks about it.
The one guy I met this year in AA. I call him my guardian angel. He is always there when I need him.
The veterans that are in my life are very humble people.
Enjoy the day.
