Good morning Menu Friends, we made it to the weekend! Does anyone have any awesome plans? This weekend we are taking my Mother in Law to her fav steak restaurant called "The Keg" (my Canadian friends will know this place) and it's on the 9th floor of the Embassy Suites that overlooks the Canadian side of Niagara Falls, she is turning 75! I love my MIL and it will be a nice treat for her! I think on Sunday we are going for a hike with the dogs. And wait for it... I might ask hubby if he will put up the Christmas lights for me outside. Not to turn on just yet but to have them up on the house & trees outside, easier to do when it's still semi nice outside.
QOTD: Do you have established WLS routines? I like routines in all facets of my life. It definitely stems from having a Mother who had major anxiety and OCD while I was growing up and because of her constant "routines" and "order" I do find I appreciate routines. Here are a few of my WLS routines: Daily my alarm goes off, I get up, go to the bathroom, strip naked and weight myself so I have an idea where my weight is and if I am up a pound or two what I need to do. My kitchen scale sits on top of the microwave and so every night while making dinner and getting my lunch ready for work the next day I know where it is and I use it to weigh out my food. I have my PatchMD vitamin patches in my makeup drawer so that every morning while getting ready I open the drawer and there they are and I put them on. I spend a lot of time making weekly "menus" and putting those in my note section in my phone so that on Friday night when we go grocery shopping I know what proteins and veggies we need for the week. Before I turn into bed every night I log into MFP and plug into the next day what I "plan" to eat then I know if I have any wiggle room for a treat and if my protein and carbs are in line with where I want them to be. Logging onto OH daily, I know I am now doing the menu thread but before I did I was here every day reading, learning and asking questions. These things do not feel like a chore or overwhelming like it did in the beginning its now just "routine."
Photo Friday people - I asked you to post a photo of something that makes you happy (can be anything) and tell us why. So this is a picture of my maternal Grandmother. She was my best friend. I love this picture because I think she is so beautiful. She was 18 here (1937) and just married. She had an incredibly hard life (poverty, abuse, her husband dying in WWII) and yet she was loving, sweet, compassionate and would give you the shirt off her back kind of woman. She died in 2009 of complications from Alzheimer's and I miss her every day, but looking at this pic makes me happy!

Great routines you are creating for yourself Pat, great job! I took cook for me & hubby, he eats what I eat and what I normally do is just add in a starch for him, so rice or potatoes or bread/rolls (lucky for me those things don't tempt me, I have a sweet tooth so its desserts that get me and we just don't keep it in the house).
Great menu girl!! Love that you eat "steak" for dinner, just steak, awesome!
Bet your granddaughters are stunners but yes appreciate the privacy aspect so in the mean time you posted my FAV topic - DOGS!! They are all so beautiful, sitting so nice for the pic!! And I love you have two little and two medium dogs, they must keep you busy and make you laugh every day. Love their names, you are blessed with such wonderful companions!
have a great weekend!
Cute little doggies! they look like a bunch of fun!

Boxer Alert!!! Lab Alert!!! Pugs!
We have two rescue boxers, a white (deaf) female named Uma, who is a sweet loving IN YOUR FACE sweetie! Plus Shelley, who was also a rescue that was found on the streets in Tulsa, emaciated, with nipples half way to the ground. They think someone dumped her after breeding her half to death. She has a much more serious side to her, but after 7 years of being in our family, she is a lover too. And then Sissy the spoiled Yorkie, we can't forget about her!
