QOTD: My center never mentioned a "honeymoon period," but they want us to be extreme low carb until 1 year, or at least until we hit goal. They push for very small meals, too, and to supplement with shakes. I dont get to up my ounces of dense protein to 2oz till about Month 4. However, they didn't mention a time period for malabsorption either.

I'll be scanning everyone's menus the next few days because I need more ideas!

Good morning friends. Having a calm work day today, which was due. I don't know if I've mentioned it, but I have a 2nd round of interviews which will last all day-- for a job I'm really interested in next Friday. I chose that day because it's Veterans Day, so I'm off work here.

QOTD: Kind of, they did talk about malabsorption and how it lasted 12-18 months, but didn't really stress that you had a window of opportunity to most easily lose the weight. As we've discussed, the NUT at my office is promoting 1200 cals per day, so I'm not sure there's a full understanding of all things WLS related.

B- 3 oz boar's head roast beef (it IS good); irish tea w/SF creamer

L- 4 oz shrimp with ****tail sauce

D- 4 oz grilled chicken, wrapped in bacon

S- 3 oz boar's head roast beef

Totals: Cals- 613; Protein- 90; carbs- 20; fat- 20

Have a good day!

Good morning, Menu Crew!  It's soggy here today.  We've had A LOT of rain.  It was a messy trip to the barn to feed the piggies this morning, that's for sure.  And...the creek by our house is running, so we've had a significant amount, in my opinion. The scale moved a little this morning...two more pounds...not huge, but I'll take it over a gain!  I'm feeling a bit better today, but the cold front that moved in last night screwed up my roping practice, then my right nostril.  It's cleared today, but only because I slept on my left side and used a vicks nasal inhaler.  Such is life in West Texas!

QOTD: Yes, I have been told about the "honeymoon" phase.  I think hearing this is good, for me, anyway.  I've been trying to do my best with the food choices, and it seems to be working, because the number on the scale is moving in the right direction.  I  know a lot of pre-op people are still making bad eating choices, and I think it will be harder for them post-op because this is a lifestyle change, not just a quick fix!

Not too happy about my menu today, but here it is:

Time until surgery: 25 days

B: yogurt, string cheese

L: chili, string cheese (hoping that the chili will get thrown out after today!)

D: grilled lemon pepper chicken, cauliflower rice (been dying to try the rice!!!)

S: PB2 and apple slice

Have a great day, folks!

So I made chicken fried rice with the ready-made bag from Trader Joe's... it turned out Ah-Mazing! I added chicken leg meat that I had made the day before in my Instant Pot, and plenty of eggs to up the protein, adn then I picked out the chicken and egg to make 2.7 ounces, then added some of the rice mixture to 4 ounces... it was sooo good, we had it twice in one week! LOL

I don't even know what a Trader Joe's is, much less where to find one.  I guess I'll be looking into that!!!!  I'm hoping the cauli-rice is amazing.  I need a little comfort-feeling-food in my life today!

You are in west Texas, correct? Not sure where, but it doesn't look like there are any there in the Western part of Texas... I don't know if other places carry it already riced or not?

Closest Trader Joe's is in Ft. Worth, which is a four hour drive (or more)!  I guess I'll just be making the stuff homemade.
