My center talked about malabsorption of calories and the honeymoon period but had really high weight loss goals. The PA told me they don't really expect patients to get to a normal bmi. They are floored that I got to the low end of normal and have maintained there for 31/2 years. In fact at first they thought I had anorexia or something and made me meet with the dietitian and psychologist again to evaluate. Then years 2 and 3 they wanted my weight at 125 which causes my RA to cause joint pain. Finally at my 4 year after speaking with my rheumatologist they shut up and said good job. Lily and I have our 3.2 miles in and may walk around the block after supper too. Post op 4 years 2 months and weight at 117.2 today. Been having a hard time with wanting to snack in the evening before time so I've been reading and drinking hot herbal tea. Only downside is I have to wake at night to go to the bathroom. It keeps me from snacking Though! Here's the food for the day B 1/2 c steel cut oats with protein and peanut butter added L tuna packet 3 pork rinds D last nights--31/2 oz shrimp and 2 small seafood stuffed mushrooms S mission one chocolate brownie protein bar . Have a great day everyone and make some amazing choices!
Morning DD2. It was a great game, but a late night.
QOTD: My surgeon is a researcher in addition to surgery, so he keeps up with everything new WLS. And he was pretty adamant that malabsorption after RNY is very much overstated. He said it was pretty small at first, and started disappearing as soon as the surgery healed. He advised me to not even think about it, and assume I absorbed every calorie I ate. I tracked every bite, and compared my loss with what I ate, and they always correlated exactly.
