Hey fellow Eastern European! I am half Polish (my Dad's side) and half French/Irish (on Mom's side).

Horse radish was like ketchup in our house growing up.

And although my Babcia has passed now she made the Worlds Best cabbage rolls, City Chicken, Pierogi (multiple flavours) and Paczki!  I miss her a ton and all her amazing cooking.

Na zdrowie!!!

OMG, my 1st response was lost. .

My sisters and I are called Chuchie, loose translation. On Easter, the girls get together to make hundreds of pierogi. I am 4th generation Polish in the US!

I will miss eating some tasty foods, but it's what I need to do. I think my love of horseradish started as a toddler!!!

Bummer Pat on the 3lbs, and it is not necessarily the kielbasa (although it might be) but keeping hydrated is so important (and hard in my books) and making sure you are going to the bathroom as well.  It will come back off, you are eating great, all the right things, and your numbers are fantastic, you got this!

I love love love shrimp and ****tail sauce. I get the really big shrimp and a spicy ****tail sauce, I can eat 5-6 shrimp comfortably and it fills me right up and I stay full from the dense protein!

Venison with pasta sauce and parm cheese, sounds yummy!

Good morning, Menu Crew!  I'm having a really great day despite not feeling well....think I'm getting a cold.  Hubby and I were shopping last Friday, and I found a comfy looking thermal that I wanted.  He was helping me find my size, looks up at me and says, "What size are you wearing now?" The look on my face must have been amusing, because he literally laughed at me out loud, which is not something that he would have done six months ago.  He said, "let's just get one size down from normal, and if it's too small, we will come exchange it."  I agreed.  Well, folks, I put it on this morning for work...super comfy...but could have gone down one more size.  Small NSV, but I'll take it!

QOTD: Ask me in a year...I'm preop still.

B: yogurt w/ fruit

L: soup....anything that won't hurt the throat

D: chili again probably

S: not feeling it today

Daisydoo...just for you...pics of the pigs eating cookies!

Please excuse the barn mess...we are in the process of getting concrete poured, so it's getting better, but it's hard to get it all done while the pigs are in there!

They are somewhat pets.  They're market pigs for stock show.  Great project for the whole family.  Teaches the kids a lot, and mom, too!  It's a science to get them fed to look right.

As for the bacon, it is delicious.  We will end up eating one of the five pigs that are in the barn.  Too bad you can't get a whole pig processed into bacon....but I like the ribs, ham, and chops, too!

That's so awesome! We have Cow. Her name is Filet... she's a little over a year now, and even though she's not a show cow, she hangs with them because our neighbor has show cows (our cow looks so homely next to those fluffy-kept-in-the-fridge room-all-day-so-they-are-pretty COWS... Hahaha...

But anyway, Filet will become... well Filet in about a year (among of other things, but sadly, not bacon!). We should totally share with each other! I'll trade you a few ribeyes for a few pounds of bacon! Yum!

My neighbor used to raise cows and the kids had a terrible time with him turning their "friends" into meat so he named the last calf Hamburger.  Didn't help.  Hamburger lives on out in the yard.

I showed steers when I was in school.  I always named them cut-of-beef names....Sir Loin, T-Bone, Chuck Roast.  After the first one...came home one day and T-Bone was gone.  Couple weeks later, freezer was full of beef.  I didn't eat beef for a year!  They could have at least warned me....

But yes....he was so fluffy and well taken care of...and super gentle. I miss the calves, but I love the pigs.  My oldest comes up with some of the best off-the-wall, non-animal names.  Last year, we had Sioux and Wallace. They have different personalities, so they get good names and expensive feed!
