What's on your Menu today (Wednesday) RNYers?
I was diabetic prior to surgery, so I was a a special diet for years and I actually stuck to it about 95% of the time. So I am not sure if I will come to that point, I have had to do all of that for so long this is really easier for me. Had A Dr. appointment with my PC this morning and she is so proud of my accomplishments! All my numbers were good, so now I will be anxious to see what my blood work will be when I go to the surgeon's in 6 weeks!

Quick fly by- I'm in NYC!! and working in one of our office today , training tomm, off friday then home saturday. I've already walked 7000 steps per my fitbit and it is only 11"20 am!
QOTD: I have moments where I say- why me, i want to eat XXX and can't -or i can't eat mass quantities anymore. and have a pity party. It is momentary though.
scale is NOT cooperating, it was back at 137 today and I'm sooooo close to goal. I'm irritated still.
I swear our scales know our goal numbers and purposely dance around them for as long as they can....

I haven't had the goal weight discussion with my scale. I'm keeping it a secret. I weigh every morning, say, "thank you. That is all," and leave her be for the rest of the day!

Daisy, your story brought back memories of my husband who passed away in 2009. He often told me to stop worrying about weight and enjoy life.
If I would have had a meltdown in front of him, he would have suggested a good Italian restaurant with wine and dessert.
It truly is our own life and our own choices.
Real life begins where your comfort zone ends
you mean like that?
Finding new ideas on what to eat new recipes is what keeps me eating "right food".
As for other stuff - finding something I really want - and making that a reward...
As for other things - I really wanted a face lift... I saved money... so I decided that when I go back to my goal (lose ALL of my regain) AND stay there for at least 6 months AND my lab work is good - to very good... I will have the face lift. It took me year... I am having my facelift in 2 weeks...
My next reward would be ...European 10- or 14 days cruise... I need to save money for that and I need to maintain my goal weight for at least one year...and be active, in a good shape, and ..and.... In a best case - we can do that in 10 - 18 months from now...
Adding re meltdown:
I had my major meltdown app 4 years post-op when I with already restricted post op RNY diet I found out I had, on top of that, severe food allergies .. to any milk product (yes, whey and yogurt too, and cheese), and Soy, and I also developed intolerance to most raw veggies, some cooked veggies, beans and grains... That was really really bad... I cried and tried to ignore that...but eventually I had to be a responsible adult and stop crying about what i can't have but I needed to get creative and see what I can do with the food I could have.... and to find out why i developed all those allergies / intolerances... and if there is anything I can do about that...
i think we often concentrate on what we can't / shouldn't have that we may forget to see the bigger picture and realize that it is not the end of the world... and to see what we can do about that... That was my turning point from feeling sorry for myself to being proactive about my well being...

Wow! 2 weeks isn't that long!!! How exciting!!!

This is my first post on the daily menu thread. I am pre-op, my surgery is the 22nd of November. I am on my liquid diet phase and its hard, but I am doing it. My kids, 17 and 20 are very supportive along with my husband. My surgeon puts us on a milk diet. We are allowed 20 oz of skim milk for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I don't even like milk, but I gag it down!! This pre-op diet is crazy!! We are allowed to drink chicken broth, tea and anything else that is sugar free with less than 5 calories per serving. Today is day 7 and I have 20 days left. I feel strong and determined!
I cried last night and had thoughts of stromboli. I journaled and took a hot bath with epsom salts and I felt better. So, today I will have milk and hot tea and be one step closer to surgery!
