My fitness pal ... tells me I'm not eating enough
Question for all you MFP users ... I got it set up today for my new goals and everything but it won't allow me to lose more than 2 pounds a week. When I tried to close out my eating diary, I was told that I'm not eating enough calories and it wouldn't give any of the usual congratulations and projections and lectured me on eating enough to meet my nutritional needs.
Is there any way to customize it for the nutritional needs/goals of a WLS individual? It's helpful as is and I guess I can just work around that and use the parts that do work for me, as in protein count and calories, but it would be nice to have it adapt to my new norm. Feedback anyone? Thanks in advance!

It won't let you do it. I think the minimum might be 1200 calories for men and 1000 for women. It was likely the lawyers. They are afraid of lawsuits if they seem to be encouraging anorexia and such.
It still works for what we need, and keeps track of everything. It just gives you that annoying message.

To avoid messages like that - I just don't close the day. It still gives you total ... But if that is annoying for you - you may try other apps that track food intake.

ok, thanks ... not really annoying, I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something. it would be great if someone could come up with an app that was specifically designed for wls people ... take all the best of mfp and tweek it for our needs ... maybe someday! mfp is still a wonderful tool and so very helpful!

I have obsessive, compulsive tendencies. At one point, I created a personal food called Close Day that had 300 calories and added that so I could close every day.
It was silly, but I had to close the day without seeing the warning. I am an old programmer so it was a challenge to get around the message.
It really does not matter whether you close the day, so that is the logical way to avoid the message.
