how often do you weigh?
I'm a daily weigher too. I like the accountability and even more so, seeing the downward trend. I have a Fitbit scale, and the app gives me weekly average weight, which I find more useful than my day to day fluctuations.
Also doing it daily has made me less neurotic about the number . Seeing how much my weight is affected by hydration, constipation or where I'm at in my cycle is easier for me than doing it once a week and having it fall on a bloaty day and feeling like a failure.
but it's not for everyone.

I also weigh most days but only record when it is down ;). Lot of fluctuation, agree with InsertFitness that it kind of neutralizes the ups and downs of daily life. Also agree that I did not get to 267 by weighing myself daily... important to have that frequent wake up call, at least for me.
Every day.
In the past, every time I stayed away from the scale for long stretches, I gained lots of weight. So, I am not wandering too far from the scale ever again.
We weigh often if we feel we are doing well. We stay away from the scale if we think we are doing badly. Weighing often is a better plan.

I'm at maintenance and the longest I ever go between weighing is 2 days. People say it's not healthy to be obsessive. I say it's not healthy to be in denial! It's a lot easier to reset and lose 1 pound, than 5 pounds, so I'd rather know right away if I'm off track.

such great responses ... thanks everyone! Good to know I'm in good company. pre-surgery I was needing to weigh every day anyway to keep track of fluid retention so I'm in the habit now. looks like I'll just keep it up!

I weigh everyday. I only record once a week. If you can get past the emotional drama attached to the scale it -for me- is the best accountability.
I can tell you what I weighed every week from my pre-op diet until now. 2 1/2years. I keep it in the notes in my phone. I also recorded Bariatric Doctors visits.
I record on Wednesdays because that is the day of the week I had surgery and until I reached goal I also recorded every 23rd of the month- so I could see what I was doing monthly as my surgery was 7/23/14.
I found it very helpful especially when I would get frustrated or think I was on a plateau. I also set mini goals along the way...and being able to see where I was helped me.
It also prevents me from putting my head in the sand and ignoring what I am doing. If the scale is going the wrong direction for a few days, it is much easier to analyze what you've been doing in those few days....
Do I occasionally fall into the mental drama hole? Yes...but is still the only way I would do it.
