Strength training- when did you start/resume
I started with light weights (3 pounds) for arms at 2 weeks post op. I was told no abdominal specific exercises until after I see physiologist at 5 weeks. I started running at 3 weeks.
Everyone's surgeon has their own plans and you should follow yours. Also everyone has a different exercise tolerance before surgery which will determine their post op recommendations.
Congrats on your surgery!

I joined my local YMCA and got a trainer at 6 months out. Made me nervous because of the weight gain due to making more muscle but it quickly evened out and I am continuing to lose at a good pace. I also love the results that help make me look more toned and less saggy...maybe it's just a feeling really but we're all made differently.
I must confess I never started. I walk daily and aim to get in around 6ooo steps a day. I do normal stuff like gardening, and work around the house, I swim some in the summer (maybe once a week). We take the canoe out once a month or so now that I can get in it again. My strength training is hauling around my plein air painting kit, moving logs, splitting wood, using the weed wacker, pushing a vacuum cleaner, mopping the floor, flipping mattresses (just did that to the five beds in the house for the fall cleaning spree), moving furniture around to clean under it, sawing dead branches out of the trees in orchard, and pulling up the oyster floats to flip them over weekly. I go up and down a flight of stairs at least 3 times a day and every entrance to our house has at lease five steps. We live on cliff above the water and I walk that path up and down at least once a day.
