From reading the previous posts, you got the drift, scratch that, the avalanche hard stuff comes down the pike.  I believe there are some WLSers that never have to look back and then WLSers like me medical staff consider high risk--why?--because of long-term, super morbid obesity.  Yesterday, I visited my 91-year-old mother who has left her home of 65 years and now lives in a facility.  One of the first things I said to her was,  "Mom, the nurse said you refused to take your weekly bath. She said you must take one Monday." Mom replied, "Okay, I will; I am trying to be good."  I am like my mom-- trying to be good.  May you find being good easy for many tomorrows to come. Take care.

Use the rest of your honeymoon to get the rest of the weight off.  Then lose another twenty pounds.  It is OK if people call you too skinny.

Regain is not from negative thinking.  It is the body's way of healing from the surgery.  The body is smart and knows that it is being starved.  It will fix itself.  The reason that weight loss is so easy is because part of your intestine is gone.  The intestine has fingerlike appendages that grab food and hold it against the intestines so that calories can be absorbed.

You don't have enough of those villi now but your body will grow new ones after about two years.  When that happens weight gain is quick and furious.  You will gain one or two pounds a wee****il you cut calories and do serious dieting.

People who think they are in maintenance and start adding calories before the end of year three are the ones who gain back all or most of their lost weight.  If you understand how this works, you have the best chance of being a success story for life.

You have gotten good feedback, but I will add mine. You have been here 10 months. I have been a part of the bariatric community for 9 years. Enjoy the honeymoon period but be aware that by year 3, MOST of us have battled regain. Stick around. Read the regain stories. I learn something from each and every one of them. This journey is NOT easy. I still have to fight hard every single day!!

Congratulations on your weight loss. God bless when it is easy. You have received great advice.

No one is trying to discourage you they just don't want you to be side swiped when the easy ends.

Good Luck!
