Are you going to the Nutcracker at Tulsa Ballet? If so my son will be in it. He is usually the nutcracker prince.

Hi folks!

QOTD- Hmmm... I take any advice I get lightly.  I direct my own path, so I'll listen to what anyone has to say-- doesn't mean I'll apply it though.

Hi Daisy and all of you menu peeps! I am back from my business trip to the Bay Area, and am so happy to be home.  This should be my last travel obligation for the rest of the year.  At least, that is my hope!  Layla also hopes that this is my last travel obligation.

It is chilly and rainy here in Portland.  In other words, it is October!  The leaves are still beautiful, but are quickly falling because of all of the rain we've had.  As much as I love them, I also sort of like them to fall so I can get them cleaned up and be done with it.

QOTD:  I can't think of any really bad advice I received in regards to WLS.  The program I am in is really good, with a ton of support during the process, and after.  The only thing I can think of, which is pretty standard, is the line about only losing 65% of your excess weight.  That wasn't something I was willing to believe, or to settle for.

Time Since Surgery:  23 months

B:  Egg Beaters, mozzarella and bacon

S:  Fun Size Snickers (ugh!), Light and Fit Greek Yogurt

L:  Asian Chicken Salad

D:  Rib Eye 4 oz.

Totals:  Calories 794, Carbs 43 (Fun Size my ass!), Protein 73

I will probably add another snack in here (that is not a Snickers Bar), but I need to go to the grocery store.  My fridge is empty, empty, empty!

Have a great day!

 Height: 5'7".  HW: 299, Program starting weight: 290, SW: 238, CW 138 - 12 pounds under goal!

Good morning Daisy and menu crew.It was a balmy 36 when I got out of bed this morning. I did not want tog et out of bed it was so chilly in our room. We have a routine, Joddie is up first and lets Bethany out of our youngest sons room and Bethany comes to snuggle with me for a bit before we get up...this morning we snuggled an extra half hour...LOL..I know..TMI.

QOTD - Worst advice, like others the volume of food and choices that are considered acceptable by the program. I became obese by eating those things and not being able to control my portion sizes. I am not about to introduce them now.

B- Protein bar

S - Caramel apple pie greek yogurt - buddig ham

L - egg roll in a bowl

S - Buddig ham & cheese stick

D - meeting DW for dinner - unsure.

exercise - 90 minutes at the gym

Stay Healthy my friends, Mike

I love your "wake up snuggle time routine" OMG that's me too with my Oliver, he is super duper snuggly in the morning. I never get bored of hearing about dogs, so please feel free to tell me more about Bethany any time!

Great menu, one of these days I have to try that "egg roll in a bowl"!  Hope you enjoyed dinner with your beautiful wife!

Happy friday eve!  A late post for me, but I've been on the phone all morning with clients on the East Coast.  Now I know how my boss feels when he says his actual day doesn't start until the Virginia clients go home for the day.

DQOTD - My surgeon actually has a really good plan.  He advocates low carb and does not want you to try and increase calories for the first 12-18 months.  His dietitian is actually great and works exclusively with Weight Loss patients.  When I converted to RNY, my surgeon wanted me to go through the post op class again, mostly so I would get a refresher on his diet progression.  His regular dietitian was on maternity leave so they had one of the hospital dietitians filling in.  Her advice was god awful.  First, she told me that she thought I was supplementing too much (particularly calcium), even though I had just gone over everything with my surgeon and he had signed off on my vitamin plan.  Second, in response to a question from another new post op "is pizza dough considered bread?"  She answered correctly, but then told them, that in her mind, an acceptable snack would be to take corn tortillas, slice them in triangles, spray them with olive oil and bake them.  Use those with Salsa or hummus.  She gave this advice to NEW POST OPS!  To me, if someone a week out is asking if pizza dough is considered bread under their plan, a back to basics approach is what was needed.  Not, "here, have baked tortilla chips as a snack."  She didn't discuss portion size (which should have been 0, but if you're going to recommend it to these people, maybe give them some parameters, like 2 chips, etc.)  One of the other patients was so excited because he could use the chips to have onion dip(!) and still stay on plan.  I left the meeting and sent a text to my surgeon that he might want to consider sitting in on one of the meetings, or having a talk with her, because she clearly was not on board with his plan.  UGH.

My plan:

B: 1 egg scrambled with 1 oz of tri tip (measured exactly, go me!) and a slice of cheese

L: either more leftover tri tip (3 oz) or a skinless chicken breast and broccoli from pollo loco

D:????  I'm taking a late spin class, but will be hungry after.  I need to go grocery shopping, so maybe I'll pick up pollo loco for dinner and have something else for lunch.

S: Skinny vanilla latte, quest protein shake, almonds

No totals given the holes, but will be around 950 cal and close to 90g of protein (my calories tend to be higher on spin days.  I always leave hungry)
