Good morning :)
I post my menu on the Ontario board, but the QOTD reminded me of an experience I had two days post-op when I was getting discharged from the hospital (I'm 1.5 years post-op now). The nurse was walking me to the elevator (I said I didn't know how to get out because I was wheeled to the room semi-conscious ?). When we stopped to wait for the elevator she asked me if I had considered a non-surgical program instead... I thought it was pretty insensitive considering I was just out of surgery.
Overall I really liked the staff in my clinic (minus one dietitian I saw twice). Her advice wasn't bad though, more condescending and annoying. Everyone else was really supportive and helpful.
My nurse said " I'm bigger than you ... You didn't need the surgery " and she was in fact pretty thick ... But that didn't mean I didn't have diabetes and other life shortening health complications.
I felt pretty challenged particularly leading up to surgery .
Post op the nutritionist told me to eat Indian and Asian food which I like ... But it does contain largely carbs in the form of lentils and rice .. I was scared for a long time that I would regain because I often can't stomach meat .
Thank God so far it turned out not to be true .
I haven't gotten bad advice much yet, except maybe just from friends and family that don't understand WLS..."you need to eat more, you can't possibly live on so few calories", etc. That's right, I can't! Thankfully I have all these emergency calories stored on my rear end! Haha!
Breakfast- 2 coffees with SF pumpkin spice creamer, vanilla celebrate shake.
Lunch- going to try a chia pudding bowl today. I have a recipe for a maple apple cinnamon one.
Dinner- last night's Philly cheesesteak thing...we went trick or treating last night and ended up just picking up dinner. Our local embassy suites has this event called Trick or Suite for special needs kids and their families, so we did that and I got a guacamole burger from steak and shake (minus the bun!) on the way home.

Good morning friends, it's Friday eve!
QOTD: I hadn't seen my NUT since my initial eval for surgery until that support meeting last week, so I was hopeful that she gave out good info. Not so much. She was advising on carbs, healthy grains, 1200 cals, etc, etc. Said you should have a fistful of meat, a fistful of vegetables and a fistful of healthy grains on every plate. I wanted to fall down and die--our pouches won't or shouldn't hold all of that! I didn't speak up, clearly I was in the minority and maybe that was wrong of me. But that was bad advice for sure!
B- irish tea w/SF creamer, chobani flip yogurt
L- probably qdoba chicken and salsa, guac
D- going to make my leftover filet into pizza topping on 1/2 of a low carb tortilla with cheese and tomato sauce. Yum!
S- rest of qdoba
