I'll start on November 14th.  Started my background check today, and signed and returned my acceptance letter.  I'll put my notice in at Joann's tomorrow so they know not to schedule me.  I only feel a little bad about leaving.  This company offered me so much money that I'll likely be making more money than the store manager at Joann's makes.

en route back home to Wisconsin.  I left NC early this morning and am now 30 miles south of Cincinnati.  Eight hours left - I may try to make it all the way through without stopping (haven't done that in years!!  Eight to ten hours a day is usually my limit!!).   Luckily I have yogurt, cheese sticks, and protein bars with me since I've already hit one bariatric food desert - and I really wanted to stop for awhile!!  (just ate in my car and pushed on...)

QOTD:   I can't think of any bad advice right off hand, but the dietitian at my surgeon's office told me, when I expressed my desire to get down to a normal BMI, that that almost never happens, so don't get my heart set on it.  Ha!  That's all the motivation I needed - am now six pounds away and I'm going to do it!!

17 months out

B:   Chobani pumpkin yogurt with added protein powder and 1 T Kashi Crunch granola

S:  protein shake, coffee with half & half

L:  Chobani blueberry yogurt, cheese stick

D:  ??  Hopefully I'll come across something like a Panera Bread when it's time, or some other place that has decent bariatric choices, but if not, there's always yogurt, cheese sticks, and protein bars!!

So menu people I have a question, I am almost 10 weeks out, at 8 weeks my plan calls for me to go to 800 calories a day, I average around 600, I just don't know how to get to 800! I am what I consider full now. I know I could add like mayo or butter or something like that, but I don't use that stuff very often now and I really don't want to get into the habit of using it now. So how do I do this or am I okay at staying at 600?

My advice is to stick with 600. Plus, if you were going to add calories I'd do it with more dense protein, not empty calories/fat!

Or good carbs ! I don't really see a lot of definition in post bariatric patients who eat a lot of fat ...

Maybe it's possible to get really cut up on the " Neanderthal diet" but most never-been-fat bodybuilders eat super low fat too ... Jes saying .

Butter buds is freeze dried fat free butter solids ... If you miss the taste and mouthfeel of "real" butter it's a great substitution. I even take it to restaurants mix with ho****er to have "butter" to dip my crab legs in .

I'm very frustrated that grocery stores have stopped carrying fat free mayonnaise ... But that stuff is Good !!! I ordered forty dollars worth online

another easy and tasty way to add calories is through fat free powdered milk which makes great sauces lattes etc. I'm convinced my milk intake has helped me keep my height and bone strength years post op. I'm very leery of overtaking calcium pills.

Finally I really do recommend complex carbs like squash and fresh or sautéed vegetables to both give energy and bulk out our diet . I sometimes have to eat meals twice because they're bulky.. But it means I never feel deprived or scared of eating a few extra bites . ((())) good luck !

hey tt, so so just my humble opinion... but do NOT go to 800 calories.  Not my daily menu at 3 yrs out and I am anywhere between 800 - 900 calories a day so at 10 weeks out I would keep it as close to 600 calories as you can for as long as you can.  And don't worry "getting to 800" it will happen on all its own, you will be able to eat more and before you know it you will be at 700 and then 800 calories and long for the days when eating 600 was soooo easy!  You sure could add mayo or butter, they are good fat, or avocado.  Or do you eat cheese? Add in a string cheese or a cube of cheddar cheese if you want.  If you are not hungry and are happy with 600 calories and everything is going good then don't change.  That expression "don't fix which ain't broke" or something like that!

Once I clued into the NUTS at my Centre had no clue what they were talking about I stopped following "their plan" and followed the plans of those here on OH who where the same amount of time post op as I was.  Sometimes its hard to see the Vet's menus and see how much food we eat or the variety of food we eat, trust me it will come, don't ru****!

Best of luck whatever you decide!
