Weigh****chers post RNY?
Hi Everyone,
Just curious if any of you have checked out the new (as of Dec 2015) Weigh****chers SmartPoints plan? With this last plan they focus heavily on high protein and low sugar which is more in line with how we should be eating. I have always been a WW fan (even though I ended up needing to go the RNY route) and this is the first time the plan has been closely aligned to our way of eating. Anyone have any experience with it? Thanks!

Not to rain on your parade, but I don't see the point of going to WW after RNY if you're still in the losing phase of your weight loss or you haven't had a regain.
I'm not sure what the benefits would be if you know what to eat and what not to eat and you can weigh yourself at home for free. I've not used WW, ever, so I'm sure I'm showing my ignorance on the subject. Do they provide something a surgeon's practice and/or a support group can't? Would it be akin to a post-op support group to help keep you accountable?
I woke up in between a memory and a dream...

No rain on my parade at all! I was just curious if anyone had done it. It would be totally about the support/behavior modification aspect in my opinion. I think most of us have known for a long time how we "should" be eating. It was just a matter of doing it. WW is fairly expensive, especially if it is not something that you would consider beneficial to you.

Hi - I totally get why WW. It is the support of the group around healthy eating and lifestyle. Way to go, surgery is just a tool and I am so fried mentally and emotionally around food that I reach out to all the things I can. I am almost 2 years post op and the head games and really kicking my butt. Way to go. Do what works for you. I also do overeaters anonymous online meetings and they are very helpful to me.

I will be honest and say I think its really odd and strange you are posting on a WLS board about WW and you just had RNY surgery yourself a few months ago? Why?
I to was a WW fan and did WW many times myself, many years ago. I did lose weight and like most put it all back on and more. Is it great that WW is promoting protein forward, yes. Does it have any relevancy to our WLS RNY board, no.
If you are just happy that WW is starting to change their eating plans then yes that is great but it makes it seem like you are promoting WW here.
I am just being honest it seems a little weird.
Best of luck with your WLS journey.

I apologize if it sounded like a promotion. That was not my intent. I am very happy with my decision to have RNY and am also happy with the support and advice that I have received on these forums and plan to stick around. If my post was inappropriate, again I am sorry.

Don't apologise Melanie, I re-read my post and I was harsh for no reason so I apologise to you. I guess the idea of WW takes me back to a dark place of trying and failing and trying and failing and that was not nice of me to come down on you. Please accept my apologies, your post was not inappropriate, it just rubbed ME the wrong way. Sorry about that. We are good!
