Good morning Menu Family!  Happy Tuesday!  One down, four to go to the weekend!

How is everyone? A warm on & off rainy day here in Toronto. Supposed to get closer to Fall like Temps later in the week. Our beloved Blue Jays Baseball team is down 3-0 against Cleveland Indians, hubby is in full conniption mode, he yelled at the TV so much last night he started to get hoarse, yes living with a baseball fanatic is funny!

QOTD: Do you agree that you should lose 10 or more pounds below your lowest weight for "bounce back?"  My Centre was happy if I had of got to a weight of 150 lbs. I was comfortable in my mind at 130-135 lbs.  I got down to 125 lbs and that was just where my body stopped not that I tried to get to 125 lbs.  I do fluctuate anywhere between 125 - 130 depending on if I treat myself or not and I am okay with that.  I do agree that a lot of people get "bounce back" but not because your body suddenly says "hey let's gain 10-20 lbs" I think it's because we get lax/lazy with our eating/logging/weighing and measuring.  The weight comes off so fast in the beginning and we work out butts off to maximize the "honeymoon" period and then when the weight lose phase is done, we let either old habits creep back in or we figure "hey I got to my goal weight, I can eat that XXXX (whatever is your guilty pleasure)." You start to increase your portions, you start to "treat" yourself more often, you socialize more and so you eat off plan.  So in my opinion bounce back is "real" yes but not because your body does it all on its own its because you go off plan and stop doing the "rules".  This is why sticking to the "rules" is so important for life, not just during the weight loss phase, but forever.

Morning Daisy!

QOTD: I was thinking I would like to lose 10 pounds in addition to my "goal" of 150, but I may go with what you said and just lose until my body stops too. I have a while yet to think about it.

Great looking menu girl!  And I keep forgetting to ask you, what is Irish tea?  And I need to bring shrimp & ****tails sauce back on my menu, I love that stuff and will eat it for dinner some nights!

Thanks Daisy. Irish tea is just another kind. English tea, Irish tea. I think Irish is a bit stronger, but here is what google says:

In a nutshell

  • English breakfast: Full-bodied and rich. Originally a China black tea but now frequently includes a strong Ceylon tea component. May also include teas from Assam, Africa, and/or Indonesia.
  • Irish breakfast: More robust than English breakfast. Generally has a strong Assam component, giving it a malty flavor.
  • Scottish breakfast: Typically the strongest of the three. May include teas from China, Assam, Ceylon, Africa, and/or Indonesia.

I lost to below my goal weight too,Daisy. My original goal was 165 which I hit quickly so I lowered it to 145. I had no idea what was reasonable because I was overweight as a child and obese all but 1 year of the rest of my life. I just kept following protein forward eating, measuring and recording everything and my weight got down to 118. For the last 31/2 years I've been between 117 and 123,with 123 being when I had foot surgery and couldn't walk for 6 weeks. I don't see bounce back weight as inevitable either if we stay diligent and stay the course and weigh so we know where we are at. That's why my before picture lives on my frig door--to help me stay diligent and on track. I think before and after pics are great for Friday as I love to see the changes in you All! We are leaving to camp and shoot this weekend so I will post mine on Thursday morning before we go. Post  op 4 years 13/4 months and weight at 117.4 today. Lily was better this morning so we did our 3.2 miles already. Here's the food for the day B 1/2 c steel cut oats with protein and peanut butter added L 1c lentil vegetable soup with grated cheese added D 31/2 oz strip steak 1/2 c broccoli S mission one chocolate chip cookie protein bar .  Have a great day everyone and make some fantastic choices !
