Ouch! Painful gas pains, help!
Monday i will be 3 weeks post op. I am only on creamy liquids, yogurt, protein drinks etc. My problem is I'm having VERY painful gas in my lower right side intestinal! It is so bad i double over in pain and doesn't subside until i sit. I did work yesterday for 5 hrs the first time since surgery. I work a desk job so when i felt a twinge coming on i moved around, took GasX, then took a walk. At 4 am i woke up with excruciating pain, had it all day. Ive tried gas pills, GasX chewable, Kaopeptak and even Milk of magnesia thinking it could be due to constipation. Im hoping when that works, it could help... any suggestions and I'm worried this will never go away. Ive only been able to eat a bit of cream of chicken soup and water, oh and a few bites of sf pudding.

I hope you feel better. I am wondering if you might be dealing with lactose intolerance. I would suggest a call to your surgeon if it doesn't improve. Also, not sure if you're making the pudding or eating the premade kind, for me I could not tolorate the sugar alcohols in the premade SF pudding. Early out I used plain Greek yogurt to mix with the SF pudding powder and now I make mine with fairlife milk.
I dont like the pre-made sf pudding either, i buy the powder and mix my own milk with it. It is less sweet. I wondered too about the milk but also the sugar substitutes used... tomorrow i will try and change some things up. Work on getting my protein shake in and add one thing at a time. Problem was today, it began at 4am. I didn't even get my protein in at all. Thank you for your reply, im going to look into it being my milk as well!
I use the sf chocolate pudding mix and add half Fairlife milk and half nf cottage cheese. Sounds bad but it really ups the protein content and cuts the sweet some. Love it as a snack when I need a little more protein in my day.
Hi, I hope you get some relief soon!
I was wondering, do you feel you are constipated?? You said you had taken milk of mag. and ?kaopectate. Milk of mag. will help you go, but kaopectate will stop you from going. Walking and drinking lots of water helps get the gas and everything else moving.

Much better today! Yesterday, Pat i did take Kaopeptake and when it didn't help i moved on to the milk of mag. Which could have done the trick. I won't make the mistake of going too long without going to the bathroom. Those pains were the worst! And lasted all night! After sleeping in, I've been drinking and walking... vowing to keeping constipation out of my life! I appreciate the replies to my post, it's so nice to have a support system!
This is what I though too. For a few months - experiment with what torks for you. For me, bebefiber in my SF Greek Yougirt a few times a week - not everyday - everyother. One or two bouts with constipation and we will be vigilant about staying well hydrated and fibered-up.

I am coming up on 3 weeks post op and experiencing the same issues. Over the past couple of days it is slightly better but still very painful. I still have to sleep sitting up in a chair cause if I try to sleep in my bed the gas pain became unbearable after just a few minutes.
My doctor said it could take up to 4 weeks before felling relief.
Good luck with everything.
