What's on your Saturday Menu, RNYers?
Oh I have my before/after pic of a MONTH out thatI stalk people with.
Re meat, I keep working at it. Tried chicken chili and some of a chicken tamale today. Blech. Rotisserie chicken okay wirh a lot of steak sauce. Scared to try beef. I may just invest in Dannon stock ;)
Honestly everyone is different... you just have to try. Don't be afraid of sauce, broth or condiments either. Try Chicken thighs rather than breast...moister. I never had a problem with beef, ate it from 4 weeks out. ground meat turkey or beef can be much more rubbery and dry. My worst 'stuck' and foamies was with a turkey burger. Avoid reheating in microwave. put in a small sauce pan with a lid and a little water to steam. I could eat chicken salad, but not tuna for the first six months. With tuna, I felt I was a cat with a hairball in my throat...LOL. I still find cold cuts hard 2+ years out and get jealous of people with their Turkey cheese roll-ups and things. Trader Joes has thick sliced roasted Turkey I can do- it is much moister.
It is trial and error... no getting around it. everyone is different. Small bites, eat slow, chew well and keep it moist.....

LOL on the tuna. That is exactly how it goes with me. It smells like cat food, and I used to love it. I bought all of those tuna packets and just hate them. I bought the Buddig packs... omg they were nasty. Oh well. I may try a nice bit of steak soon. Or bologna. Jk
my father has his days & nights mixed up again (crap!), so I'll try going out there at dinner time today and see if I have better luck. Yesterday I spent four hours watching him sleep :-( I was worried at first, but they said his vitals are all normal - it's just that he hardly slept at all the night before, so he was just super tired.
now my stepmother is sick. Diarrhea for three days, and she will NOT call a doctor. She's that type. I might have to insist - although it's kind of hard since she's not my mother. I think she wanted me to stay home with her today, but I'm currently at a coffee shop. I love going to coffee shops in the morning, and I needed to get out for an hour or two to boot. We'll see how she's doing when I get back about noon, but I'm not optimistic. I will stay home with her this afternoon, though, and head out to see Dad at dinner time if my stepmother seems at least stable.
QOTD: my stepmother told me this morning that it already time to buy some new jeans (I bought this last pair about a week ago at Goodwill - $4.50!)....she noticed these are getting too big already. I'm not taking in any more calories than I normally would (I try to eat around 1000 per day - and never more than 1200), but I think my weight's just shifting around or I'm in a losing phase again. Hard to tell because scales all weigh a bit differently, so I'm not really sure.
16 months out
B: L&F Greek coconut vanilla yogurt with added protein powder, 4 strawberries, 1 T Kashi Crunch granola
S: protein shake, coffee with half & half
L: probably a cup of this asparagus soup I made last night (I have to pick up some kind of protein at the store to go with it - maybe a small piece of fish or chicken?)
D: turkey chili
probably another Greek yogurt sometime today if I can work the calories in
Good morning! Hope you don't get a full on cold. I have never ever had an apple cider doughnut and I'm sad about that. I remember watching that Rachel Ray show called 40.00 a day when I was prego with Em and she ate one and I wanted one BAD.. the closest I could get here was a "spice" doughnut.
QOTD: Yesterday one of my team members thanked me for always being willing to jump in and help whenever they need me, she said she wants to clone me.
Menu for today: B- latte and shake, L- tuna, carrots, mozzarella cheese snack, SF jello, S- carbmaster yogurt and pork rinds, D- steak and some sort of veggie(dinner out with hubby). Exercise- 6 miles done. Water/vits on track.
Hope everyone has a great Saturday!
Good morning Saturday menu posters, and good morning Julia! I am happy to report that the weight I put on during my most excellent adventure was all water, and is gone now. Whew! That stuff really messes with my fat girl brain. Although, I might risk a real gain for an apple cider donut. JB, you can always slap a piece of bacon on top of that donut to up the protein.
Hope you are not getting a cold, and are only having an immuno reaction to the shot (which means it's working). Half the house was sick with a nasty cold in Palm Springs. I did not get it, and feel like I escaped with my life.
QOTD: it was on FB in reaction to a picture I posted. The comment was from a friend, who is a sarcastic gay guy. We lived together for years, and he is like an annoying little brother. His comment was "not bad for an old broad." Seriously, that is huge praise from him, and it made me laugh.
We are expecting a wind storm in Portland later today. Last night it rained like crazy, and there was a lot of standing water on the roads. The drive home from my Dad's was a white knuckler.
Various pics below from my trip.
Time Since Surgery: 23 months
B: Egg Beaters, bacon and mozzarella omelette
L: Trader Joe's Shrimp Tacos
S: Prawns
D: chicken Breadt
