Hello Menu Friends!

I woke up feeling all-over yucky today. On Thursday when I was at the doctor for my sprained thumb they also gave me a flu shot. Today I woke up all-over achy, with a sore throat. I'm really hoping it's a side effect from the shot and that I am not getting another cold. Plus, my stupid thumb still hurts, I ran out of my Fit Frappe Protein Coffee, and it's below freezing outside--so I am just a barrel of laughs this morning.

But let's focus on the positive. QOTD: What is the last compliment you received? Last night I was helping a friend who is a single mom of 3, and also has her 80 year old mom living with her. I gave my friend the night off and hung out with her brood. Her mom asked if I was a college student! I know, I know, she's 80 and probably doesn't have great eye-sight...or maybe she thinks I look like Rodney Dangerfield...lol, but still, it is always nice to be mistaken for over twenty years your junior!

Ok, in other news, I live in "apple-country". There are apple orchards literally everywhere around me, and I think this is the longest I have ever gone in a season without picking apples. Boo! But I think today is the day! So, let's just be honest: I will consume a little crap today. I can give up many, many, many things for the good of this surgery, but you'll have to pry the once-a-year apple cider doughnuts from my cold dead hands!

I'm not really sure about the rest of the menu, but here is my best guess:

B: Coffee with skim & Chobani Flip Greek Apple Crisp Yogurt

S: APPLE CIDER DOUGHNUT

L: Trader Joe's Parmesan Chicken Lollipops

S: Cheese cubes and a cinnamon dusted apple

D: Turkey Chili with Beans

MFP says these stats are kind of crappy--Calories are 860 but protein is only 50. I'll rework something and get some more protein in... Why don't doughnuts have more protein?? WHY??

Good morning weekend crew!  I, too, live within minutes of apple orchards, and I haven't been this year yet, either.  BUT, I'm supposed to go tomorrow morning before work (if I can swing it), so I expect I will have a donut.  Last year I was a new post op, and I know I had a bite of donut, but I didn't eaten a whole one.  I'm kinda looking forward to, and dreading it, at the same time.  In my best Homer Simpson voice, mmmmm donuts.

JBQOTD:  I honestly can't remember, but I think it had to have been from my hubby.  He tells me daily that I'm beautiful and how much he loves me.  Outside of that, I believe that the last compliment I had from someone other than my hubby was the other day at work.  I was on lunch and was talking to my co-worker about food and my surgery, and she said she knew a bunch of people who where post wls, and that she wouldn't have guessed by looking at me that I had ever been big.  It's not the first time I've heard that compliment, and I kinda don't get it since when I look in the mirror I see the saggy chicken neck and batwings, but hey, I'll take it.

so, here is my plan for the day and I expect that I will stick to it pretty well, since once I get to work I'm pretty locked in and there isn't room for deviation.

14.5 months since surgery

B: 2 eggs, bacon and coffee with sugar free coffeemate

L: shrimp with ****tail sauce made with sugar free ketchup

D: Boneless chicken breast on romaine salad with cucumbers, tomatoes and Bolthouse Farms Yogurt Ranch dressing

S: 2x light and fit greek yogurt.

totals:

calories 777 protein 104 carbs 37 fat 24

This is a pretty kick ass menu, so I'll have a little wiggle room for tomorrow and my donut.

That IS a kick ass menu! You have double my protein numbers with 100 fewer calories. Damn protein-less doughnut (shaking fist!)...

I love your coworker compliment story. I am not open about surgery at work. I had surgery before I started this job, so no one knew the "before" me or saw the transformation, so it's never come up. But a  few months ago one of my co-workers grouped me into a category of people who "wouldn't know what it's like to struggle with a weight problem". Ha! I set her straight, privately, afterward. It's funny how it can be such a huge part of our identities, yet totally hidden to the rest of the world...
