Visit with new surgeon

hi all! I had my appointment with my new bariatric dr since my dr is terminally  ill. He ordered a scope to measure and check out what type of pouch we are dealing with as well as a hida scan on my gall bladder. Also put me on omeprozole until they can get me in for all those tests. I will update as soon as I find out my results. I'm so curious about what my pouch looks like since I already know it's. It a "standard " pouch.

The good news is that the gnawing hunger has gone away and I was able to lose the gain I had last month plus 1 additional lb. so I'm down from 198 -165 in 5.5 months which is ok with me since I am a revision and a lightweight.

It's nice to read good news for you first thing in the morning.  It's also hard to read a bariatric surgeon, who has played a big part in extending peoples' lives, is losing his/her own.  I owe a lot of people to get this second chance at life right and I admire revision WLSers like you who never give up.  May your pouch look perfect.

It is very heart breaking . My surgeon did not know he was ill. He has 5 children and just thought he had some skin issues. He is only in his 50's and has devoted his career to understanding and helping people with metabolic problems. His illness progressed and hardend his Lungs. When I asked if I could send him a letter or card, they informed me that he is already unable to read or respond . It is called systemic scleroderma.

Wow, Scleroderma is rough... I have the non-systematic kind. I still remember the day the doctor called me with the diagnosis after the biopsy. "I have good news and I have bad news- which do you want first?" Me- "Give me the good news" "It is not fatal. The bad news is we don't know how you got it and there is no cure" Yes starts with just thinking you have a skin 'thing' going on- rash- eczema-etc....

You said it so perfectly.  We ALL have big hopes for Sheri. Her tenacity and "never say die" attitude is something we all can admire.

Oh wow sweetie! I'm so happy you got in to see the new doctor, and that they are being proactive and doing those tests. Please keep us updated on how that goes!

And I'm so sorry about your previous surgeon. How heartbreaking for him and his family.

Please check in more often! I miss seeing your posts!
