PSA: Patch MD Tested by Unjury
I find myself in an odd position. My labs did well on Patch.MD, and they saved me alot of nausia in the first 3 months after surgery. I do not know how I would have fared without them - I was naseated for several hours after each time I took the chewables. (For cost and heat-stability I went back to the chalky chewables about 9 months post-WLS so I did not stay on them forever. But my early labs were great and so are my labs now that I am back on BariActive chewables.)
As a thinking person, I read the unjury report and it's hard to argue that the patch should weigh at least 3.6 gms if the label reports that there are 3600 mgs of vitamin additives. Two weeks ago I visited a lab that had scales accurate to 1/1000 of a gram - too bad that I did know about this controversary then, I could have weighed some patches for myself. I will take a few with me if I return.
I don't know if you need less transdermally to get the same effective dose as oral, but then the label should indicate they are talking about effective dosage, not actual amounts. That does not explain the 'no detecable levels' unless that lab did not have very accurate procedures. Personally, I would have tested one or more groups of 20 patches for the chemical analysis to reduce error.
Interesting to see how Patch.MD responds.

No matter what type of supplementation taken, all of us should be our own health advocate. This is why vets recommend tracking lab trends and not merely taking your physicians statement that your labs are "normal." The patch, like oral supplements, may not work for you or may work a little too well. Its when we become complacent about our health that complications can develop.

I started using the patch multivitamin January 1st. Just got my labs done, and everything is perfect except iron is a little low. I'm very happy with the results.
