Surgery Date, Pre-Op Diet
Going in Tuesday, October 25th. Excited. Scared. Relieved. Emotional. GAH!
Pre-Op liquid diet is harder then I thought. I really thought I had addressed my food issues as much as possible before surgery. I didn't consider myself too much of an emotional eater, beyond eating in "celebration." Nope. Clearly more attached to food then I ever thought, and this surgery couldn't come faster.
My little one is 16 months now. Caring for him after surgery will be hard. I will need full time help; The question is, how long do you think? He's just below 30 pounds. When will I be able to lift him up again?
My fiancé and I are fighting. It sucks because I really need his support at this time but frankly he's got his head so far up his own ass he can't see the support that I am desperately seeking.
So here I am again! yay lol.
Anyways, I'm excited to have a place to share all my victories, struggles, and fleeting thoughts.
Wish me luck!

Stay tuned!
Hi there
By the 4th or 5th day the diet gets much easier. Stay focused and don't cheat. This is the best thing you can do for yourself. I'm not sure of your lifting restrictions because I had open surgery and mine would be different than yours. I would imagine 2 to 3 weeks at best. Sorry your not getting support from your boyfruend. What about your mom, sister, good fruend? I would imagine with a small child you will need help at least the first week.
Good luck with your pre op and come here often

I had keyhole surgery... am on a lifting restriction of not more than 10 pounds for six weeks. There are a lot of staples and stitches in there that you do not want to mess with... I will be 5 weeks post-op tomorrow and am just today starting to feel my energy approaching normal.
Good luck! And get help!
Hi!
SoI had the same, no more than 10 pounds for six weeks. He's old enough now that you could sit and have him climb up on your lap, as opposed to picking him up. that might help some of the time. Other than that, you will probably only need help for a few days. Longer is nicer...but a few days will do.
Sorry about the fiancé...is this about the surgery do you think?

Yes, but we also have a lot on our plate otherwise. Frankly, we are both freaking out.
Your words "...fighting...a lot on our plate...freaking out..." creates a natural, friendly suggestion to ponder the idea of possibly postponing WLS until you are not fighting and don't have a lot of your plate. (it gave me comfort to know I could postpone or cancel surgery up until the very last minute of the very last day)
I thought about this, but it's really now or never. The insurance I have runs out this year, and my life won't be any less stressful any time soon. It's ok! I have two weeks to really really really really get it together and figure it out. If only I didn't feel so sick from liquid diet :( lol
