Any tips on hunger?
What everyone else said. Plus, how much protein are you getting a day? Also, acid sometimes feels like hunger. Are you on any meds for that? I was on one pill a day, but the upped it to two because I was still having some reflux issues.
I was liquid only for three weeks pre op, and over a week post op. My stomach made, and still makes crazy sounds. But it isn't hunger.
As others stated, make note of clear goals and reasons you did this, and refer to it often.
When I get head hungry ( different from actual hunger) I look at it. I also log on here. It's grounding.
good luck!
I am 2 weeks post op today and my stomach makes ALOT of noise. I constantly have to ask myself if I'm actually hungry and most of the time it's NO.
I have been on liquids until today so your not alone in that. My doctor explained that liquids are easier on my new pouch and allows for healing time. Today I can start pureed foods and let me tell you it's a slow progress. It's crazy that it takes me 30 minutes to eat 3oz, and sometimes I can't finish.
My advice us to take it SLOW. We all of different journeys and you will find your own path. Trust in your tool and yourself.

Sorry I couldn't get to this sooner!! I feel your frustration, right now. I am 5 weeks out today. I have stomach growling and stomach gurgling. Growling when I'm hungry, when it's time for something to eat. It goes away when I'm done, liquids rush right through and don't make the growl go away. It does get better! Are you able to tolerate the protein shakes? Drink more of those if you can, the protein and calories may up your blood sugar so your growling may calm down. There is a steep learning curve to this, I thought I had educated myself well, but I'm learning new things all the time. Sometimes the first few weeks are a distant memory for those who are seasoned vets. I hang on all the advice they have to offer, but I hope my new journey can offer you some comfort.
It's been a long road , changing habits before surgery , probably a pre op diet that sucked too. Now it's over and you still eating jello and soup. I remember it well. This is not the time to bend , you made it pretty far. I don't want to say to you that it's impossible you are actually hungry but the truth is it might be a head game right now. Pound tha****er as much as you can, get going on a project to kill some time- redo the closet ? Paint? Anything you can think of to occupy your time
Stay strong - eye on the prize
Luckily, I don't think I have felt "true" hunger since my surgery. Have I wanted to eat? Absolutely. Experiment with different temperature liquids. I have found that hot decaf tea or coffee keep me from want to eat and also helps me with my fluid goal. Hoping you feel much better after you can progress your diet. I was served scrambled eggs in the hospital on my release day. I was also allowed yogurt, cottage cheese and soft proteins when I got home. I could eat very little, (1 ounce medicine cup), but I am sure that it helped. Hang in there!

Thank you everyone for all your feedback and advice. I've seen the dietician today and I've been moved on to pureed foods- can't tell you how exciting this is.
I've also been given advice about fluid before meals and the rule of 20 (20p piece size of food, chewed 20 times, wait for 20 seconds and stop after 20minutes). Turns out I should have been on medication for reflux (not overly impressed considering I've paid £10000 for surgery). Seems I used to eat everything wrong- too much, too quickly, not chewed enough and eat until the plate is clear.
Here's hoping pureed food hits the spot- not looking forward to it to be honest, imagine it all tastes odd blended together xx
Don't feel bad rainbow we were all there. If we hadn't eaten too much too fast we wouldn't have ended up needing surgery. It's all about learning new habits and retraining our minds. We are all works in progress for sure, just trying to make the best choices we can every day. Thanks for sharing your journey with us!
