I tell people all the time I exercise for my mental and emotional health, not for weight loss.  I have to Labs and I walk them every day, its my time to spend with them and get fresh air, sunshine and connect with nature (I love nature). So yes even just walking right now is good, don't push yourself too hard because then you will get too tired too soon. Rest, its a major surgery and a major lifestyle change!

Good morning Daisy and menu crew! Nice cool and sunny morning! I have at least one little mouse in the garage, I set a couple of traps last night with a glob of PB on them and the little sucker robbed me blind...LOL...my wife saw him running around the garage this morning. I reset with smaller pieces of cheese....anyone have a cat I can borrow?

QOTD - I have learned the importance of journaling and measuring from the vets. I realized but chose to ignore the fact that I exercise to offset some poor choices I make in the food consumption department. I have since changed my philosophy and am using the exercise as a tool as well and not to offset poor food choices. I do not post as much as I read on the forums. I take it all in and have learned a lot. Trying to maintain at 22 months is difficult compared to the weight loss phase. I was not as prepared for the challenges as I thought I was.

Time since surgery - 22+ months

B - Protein bar

S - caramel apple pie greek yogurt

L - rib eye

S - buddig ham and cheese stick

D - Grilled chicken

S - skinny popcorn

Exercise - 2 mile run.

Stay Healthy my friends, Mike

Get yourself a Raticator, for real.

We live in a **** box house out in the woods, so when it gets cold, all the meeces want in.  This thing works beautifully.  And you don't even have to touch them to dispose of them; just dump them out.  LOL

Make sure you put the trap against the wall. They travel along the wall and will go around your trap every time. Don't put the trap parallel to the wall and have the end with the food out and the blank end against the wall. When they run along the wall they will have to travel around the trap and by the time they are going around the food end, they have time to smell it rather than just run by it.

I learned to put the trap in a paper lunch bag. That way they run into the bag to die, and you don't have to touch them. And again against the wall. Works like magic.

Maintaining is definitely more difficult. I don't know about you...but I've never done this before...

I know I have mentioned this before, my biggest struggle is knowing that I am not in a "Normal" BMI range. Even though I do NOT agree with the antiquated chart! It drives me crazy. I have been in a good place lately. I have purposely stayed off the scale and am using my Journaling and my belt tell the story. I was making myself crazy focusing on the scale..if that makes any sense at all.

the scale... oh boy the scale... I totally get what you are saying Mike. I personally am terribly neurotic about my scale. I weight DAILY. I have a very specific routine.... I get up, go to the bathroom, strip naked and then move my scale to a specific square of tile on my bathroom floor and then I step on it.  How is that for crazy!!  Even though my weight fluctuates daily, up two, down 1, up 1, down 2, you get the idea, I HAVE TO WEIGH, I need to know what I am at so that I can adjust if it starts to get out of hand.

As for the BMI chart, screw that.  We all come in different shapes and sizes and body fat and muscle so seriously who cares if it says you are not "normal".  The BMI chart does not define you Mike, what defines you is being healthy, being a good husband/Dad/Employee, working out daily. That's what's important.

Don't get a cat... get a yorkie. I swear to you, our yorkie signals whenever there's a mouse in the house, and she goes hunting in our garage (and has killed a few)! We live in the country, with horses and cows... we have mice! Our mice always steal the cheese... just use a SMALL amount of the peanut butter... they can smell it a mile away!
