It's cold here Too! Lily and I pretty much ran through our 3 plus miles this morning. I do love fall though so I can't wait to pull out the boots. Love my boots now. My center too wants us to eat more carbs like crackers and quinoa. They also push Bariatric specific vitamins which I used for the first 3 months. Then I switched to two Centrum a day along with my calcium,Vito D and sublingual B12. Advice here saved me lots of money and at 4 years  post op my labs are perfect. Post op 4 years 11/2 month and weight at 117.8 today. Here's the food plan B 1/2 c steel cut oats with protein and peanut butter added L 31/2 oz meatballs balls 1/2 c lettuce salad with chicken and ginger dressing D 31/2 oz ribeye 1/2 c Brussels sprouts S mission one chocolate chip cookie protein bar .  Have a great day everyone and make some amazing choices !

yes that's a huge waste of money to buy the "Bariatric" specific vitamins when we can use no name or "regular" vitamins. I recently started on the PatchMD vitamin patches and I LOVE the convenience of just sticking on some patches every day!  Stay Warm Karen!

Good morning everyone. Thanks for getting us started Daisy. It's 41 here this morning but supposed to be 80 this afternoon. I get to wear jeans (and Broncos shirts) to work today because the Broncos play tonight. I love football, but I really like wearing jeans to work, lol.

Qotd: I guess it would be the same as you Daisy. My nut has a totally different plan than the vets on OH recommend. That's been difficult to navigate as a newbie. Some of her advice has been unrealistic, like to get in 70 grams of protein, eat oatmeal and toast and somehow stay under 600 calories. What?

B noatmeal with protein powder, coffee with cream

L butter chicken

D pork sirloin (chunks of pork pulled from green chili)

S light and fit yogurt, 10 almonds, cottage cheese

Calories 777 Carbs 44 Protein 89

Have a great day everyone!

Lucky you on wearing jeans to work. Its discouraged here at my work or we can only wear jeans on Fridays' and they really want them to be "dressy" jeans if you know what I mean, so might as well wear dress pants.  I love Football too and I have a "thing" for NE Patriots.

Wow there is such a huge theme with everyone's answers today to my question, NUTS clearly don't know how to advise post WLS patients, it really sad to me. All the newbies out there that don't know about OH and are talking the advise of their NUTs and eating carbs and a ton of calories.  Yes in what world does 70 grams of protein, oatmeal and toast equal to under 600 calories!  Oy vey!!

Great menu Amy, keep you the great work girl!

The jeans thing is crazy. I like to dress up pretty (especially now that I am a size 16 instead of 26) most days, but love my blue jean Fridays. One year a group at the middle school I worked at was trying to raise money for a national competition. Someone came up with the idea of having a jeans week, where the teachers could pay $10 a day to wear jeans. They raised tons of money!

I am one of the lucky ones that get to wear jeans every day! I actually look forward to being able to dress cuter (like leggings w/boots) when I lose enough. I'm tired of jeans lol.

Good morning menu family! I will be socializing throughout the day on this thread, but first i'll do my menu post.

QOTD: I've learned so much off of OH, and though it's not heavily pushed by my program, it is a website that is recommended and has a reputation at my center as "the most genuine" of any of the other sites. We are instructed to stay away from complex carbs for at least 9 months, depending on weight loss goals, but preferably for a year. I think my biggest shock was the hormone dumping and post op depression and anxiety, as the post op depression was only briefly mentioned in our pre-op classes, I didnt realize how much it would hit me. I'm thankful to OH for having a support group that has encouraged me to go seek therapy.

Time since surgery: 6 weeks, 2 days

S: Fat Free lactaid & Syntrax Nectar Double Stuff Cookie

L: 1.5 oz Chicken Salad, 1 lettuce leaf (If i need it)

D: 1.5 oz Pot roast, 2 carrot slices from potroast (if there's room)

Cal: 700, Prot: 99, Carb: 23, Fat: 24

Fluids: water water water

Exercise: 5:30 am 15 min of zumba + 7 min yoga cool down, 20 min walk before work, gonna walk again sometime this afternoon

I think achelle you are one of the few who has good things to say about your Centre and that they are supportive of us being on OH.  I think its great you are actually getting good advice from your centre such as stay away from carbs for 9-12 months, finally something that makes sense!

The hormone dump is real my friend, I got it too. I had a few cry's, I had a few "OMG what did I do to myself" days and then it just got better. Lucky I was able to come on here to OH and see that many many people go through the exact same thing we do and what you are feeling/experiencing most of us have felt it too or are feeling it.

Glad you have started therapy and keep us posted on how you are doing.

Great looking menu, that is really really fantastic!  Keep doing that!

As for your exercise, don't forget you are only 6 weeks post op, take time to rest, relax, and heal, the exercise will still be there when you are a few months out.  I didn't start to feel "normal" until I was 3-4 months post op, some people bounce right back, I didn't, don't ru**** you have the rest of your life to get healthy!

Thanks, Daisy!

You're so right. For exercise, the walks and the early morning zumba/yoga is all my body has the energy to do right now. I tried to go back to the gym last week (ellyptical, treadmill, 15 min of a zumba class) but I was feeling unmotivated and a little light headed. I only have Tues & Thurs for the gym, but this week it wont happen as I had to sell my magazine on Tues, and tonight i have the support group to attend at my hospital. Next week, we'll see how i feel. The at home stuff and my walking has been doing well for me. Especially the walks and the yoga... a great way to clear my head from the anxiety.
