oh my! A Centre *****commends Flintstones. Don't you just want to ask them if ANY OF THEM take Flintstones vitamins! That is so seriously unreal.
Yes the good old "3 week stall:, its sucks and its real and yes Newbies should be told about this.
Sorry to hear that your stepmom is pushing food, UGH that sucks, be strong!!
Morning everyone! I've actually been working on a project this week, and I'm actually doing it before I get on here! Gasp!
QOTD: I too found this board before my surgery... I was already a fan of low carbing... so when I started reading about how much ya'll promote it here, I knew I'd found a place I could fall in love with! I only had to see my NUT 3 times PRIOR to surgery. I've not been asked to see her again, and aside from a phone call from her to get onto me about my lower protein levels, I haven't heard from her (and she was pretty on target that day). I have learned a TON though here at OH... ideas for foods, especially during the pureed stages... To 'straw' or not to 'straw' (I straw)... keeping my calories low enough and measuring EVERYTHING... The honeymoon stage is so important... and I am NEW at this, accept it, and learn.
I LOVE all of the vets here, because I think learning from ya'll is probably the most important things about OH! When something doesn't feel right, I can look it up here or post something, and someone else has gone through it! I hope one of these days I get to meet all of you in person!!! Thanks for being here for all of us!
B: Nathans all beef hotdog
L: Insides of a been and beef burrito from Taco Bueno
D: Leftover chicken and some mozzarella/salami cheese roll
S: Beef Jerky/ 1/2 of protein bar maybe tonight
Weight this morning 181.4
I've been kind of battling a bit of boredom hunger. I recognize it, and haven't gone crazy, but it's irritating! I guess I need to find something more interesting to do when thi****s! It almost angers me at times...

Imagine work getting in the way of OH, how dare they LOL
I am so glad you were also one of those people that came here as a newbie and learned and listened and took advice and of the vets! It is truly a wonderful helpful insightful little "family" we have.
Would love to meet you ALL in person, maybe someday, never say never!
Boredom hunger is hard... my advice Pammie is get a handle on it now before it gets really out of control. Get some hobbies (non food hobbies, as in don't turn to baking or cooking) and keep yourself busy.
Good luck!!
Thanks for starting us off Daisy... and AV so glad you still posted... and honest. This journey is Hard! That is why it took me forever to post, such a great QOTD I had to read through everything.
QOTD: I have to say for the most part the program at my center's NUTS are on point. They are low carb all the way- although they do have the dreaded cream of wheat on the pureed week list. The head Doc when he set up the program put his foot down and said they had to change their mindset to Bariatrics. The head surgeon's mantra is "Protein first, then veggies and then IF you have any room fruit and then carbs"... He never says no carbs, but put it at the end of the list. And face it early on you will pretty much never get to it... They don't tell you to count calories per se, just protein and fluids. For now that has worked for me. I do occasionally spot-check my calories on MFP. They advocate journaling including MFP if you want.
The head surgeon always sees you pre-op and is in on the surgery even if he is not covered by your insurance. He is amazing... His wife is a social worker and started the practice with him, and she is amazing as well. The #2 Doc is who is covered by my insurance, and while he is OK not as amazing. If was only after a year of complaining about pain that he finally decided to do testing. And when I had the H.Pylori test and had to come off the omeprezole for 2 weeks and told him I was vomiting- he finally called Surgeon #1 in and he poked around and said 'Oh I think you have a hernia' Why couldn't surgeon #2 feel that??
I have learned a lot here about vitamins- like you can officially be in range and it is not high enough. Also the first time I food got stuck and I had foamies, I did a panic search on this site... Blood sugar and reactive hypoglycemia never get talked about at Docs office or at support.
My biggest complaint right now is nobody tells you how to do maintenance. They tell you how to lose, and they have regain programs- but what about maintaining?
1: Coffee with fairlife milk and miralax, 'potato pancake' omelet
2: Syntrax fuzzy navel Smoothie
3: Chicken parm
snacks: Chocolate chia latte, greek yogurt with added protein powder

You are lucky Cyndy that you have a good Centre and they give out decent instructions/advice. But its too bad about the two docs and one that is covered under your ins is not the better of the two, that's a bummer!
Oh for sure about learning about our supplement ranges, I learned all that here on OH too. And YES on the getting food stuck, I also got food stuck ONCE (a piece of carrot) and I came on here to OH, searched the heck out of it and was able to calm my panic attack I was having and just ride it out (as horrible as it was to wait it out).
I too have been asking since my 3 months follow up with my centre how do I do maintenance. They pretty much never gave me an answer, just dodged the question. My centre is great about pre op and fresh post op but NOTHING about maintenance, it really sucks and again thank god for OH!!!
Morning pouch pals!
QOTD-- hmmm.. I guess the whole monitoring your own blood work and asking for specific labs is one thing that I learned from here. I'm one who would have assumed the surgeon knows what levels needs to followed. I'm anxiously awaiting labs my surgeon ordered Monday-- but he did not include Ferritin in his order. My PCP has ordered ferritin in the past-- so between the two doc & OH's wisdom, I guess I'll be be covered.
Time since surgery: 17 months
weight today 195.9. Seriously?? this upward creep can STOP any day now :-(

Huge yes to monitoring your own labs!!! My surgeon is apparently unflapped by any number as long as it isn't zero. I'm pretty appalled that she will look me in the eye and say everything looks great when my iron is far below what is considered normal and healthy. I think our surgeons may be best in their fields for "cutting" but often are lacking on the follow up knowledge for long term success. Get educated and be your own advocates, kids!

Ok, So i've seen "Monitoring Your Own Labs" several times today, but I haven't really been on long enough to know about this. What vitamins should I be looking for? I have lab work that my PCP is doing on tuesday and she was asking me what she should test for. Any answers would be great! Below are the ones I know:
Vitamin D
Calcium
B1, B2
B9 - Folate
B12
Iron
Ferritin (now i know)

I suggest you post this on the "General Discssion" board and you will get more answers, I honestly don't know so I can't answer. There is also the ASMBS (https://asmbs.org/) that you can find out what the labs should be at.

yes knowing our labs and what are numbers are supposed to be is so important. Good luck on getting your weight to move again!
