Grim it is crazy! My nana laughs and calls us all "breeders".  All of the grand children have had two or more children so that expanded the family very quickly!

Good morning Menu Family!

Hi Daisy,I'm new to the board, about 6 weeks post op. Came here to get some support, as I'm battling the immediate Post-Op blues: depression and anxiety. Glad to meet you! And also glad that you're getting over that cold!

QOTD: I'm not sure what we're doing for thanksgiving. I used to host a very small dinner party, for us and our neighbor, but they're moving soon. If its just my husband, son,and I, we will probably eat a rotisserie chicken with fixings, and I'll just avoid the stuffing and mashed potatoes and go for the veggies. I think if i were to host, i'd still try to fix "normal stuff" (i love to feed people) and avoid it myself and make sure to have  at least 1 or 2 WLS options.  I be an avoider when I attend as well.

Time since surgery: 6 weeks, 1 day

Hi Achelle!  Welcome to the board, glad you are part of the Menu Post Family!

Sorry you are suffering from the "blues".  This is just a massive lifestyle change.  The food, the rules, the relationships we have with family and friends and the relationship we have with food, it all changes.  And it happens fast.    If you feel like you can handle it on your own then make sure you keep posting here, asking questions and let us help you. If you feel the depression/anxiety is bigger and you need professional support please get help.  Now is the time to address it and I wish you the best. Let us know if we can help you out at all.

Good luck at TG, you will be about 2.5 months post op by then (give or take) and should have no problem eating some turkey and a big of veggies if you have the room.  I had surgery on November 15th (2013) and so I was just a little over a month before Christmas. I had no problem avoiding the appetizers my Mom put out (all my favs from childhood) as I was not hungry. I put a tiny bit of turkey and gravy on my plate and a tiny bit of mashed cauliflower and at that nice and slow. Funny thing it bothered my family more that I didn't have a "plate full" of food. It was like 2oz of turkey and a tablespoon of cauliflower. I was fine with it, they weren't'.

Good looking menu. I would just like to give you my opinion.  You don't "need" veggies or almonds this early out.  For your lunch for example, you could just eat the buddig chicken and laughing cow, ditch the cucumber.  And the same with your dinner, up your ounces of pot roast and ditch the carrots. Its all about the protein and weight loss for you.  And I am not saying you will never eat veggies again, you will but why not maximize your protein.  I am not an expert or a "Vet" but at 6 weeks post op you want protein.  I know its a lot to take in, and your Centre probably says one thing and here I am saying another, sorry if my opinion conflicts with what you have been told to do but I want you to lose your weight fast and easy.

Good luck, I hope you will stick around!

Thanks Daisy!

I had my first therapy session just yesterday with a counselor that I think i'm going to really like.

Thank you for your opinion! I'll take it into consideration. At my center, they're really allowing only .5 ounces of veggies at this point with every meal, so when i say cucumber slices, its really just 1.5-2 slices, lol. At this point they only want me to go up to 1.5 ounces of dense protien per meal (1-4 months, I think? But at the 2 month mark i can go up to 1 ounce of veggies). I'm allowed 10 nuts a day if I choose to (to give us variety and crunch), and I actually list them but don't always eat them if i dont need to. I also can do soy chips/nuts or low fat pork rinds, but i haven't done those at all.

the microwave ones at bariatric eating have great stats. Plus they are microwavable so they are sizzling when you eat them....MY WORD! I would have some now but I am having a choco chai.
