What's on your Menu Today (Wednesday) RNYers?
I love Dahlonega! We used to take the kids up there 'gold panning'... I don't think the place is there anymore, but you'd always get a little gold (I'm sure it was seeded with it, but they used to say it wasn't)..

I also like going to a nice restaurant on special occasions, nothing wrong with that!
I for sure have had those days too Hillary where I swear I could eat my way through a grocery store, cookie aisle first! For me its always when I am about to start menstruating. My appetite becomes huge! I was just telling a good friend this yesterday as she was asking me about head hunger... after I eat my planned meal of whatever I have weighed and measured and if I sit back and say to myself "Oh I am still hungry" what I was told to do is wait my 30 minutes post eating and then have a big drink of something, for me that's usually coffee LOL and then after I finish the coffee I ask myself, "Am I still hungry" and if no well then it was not really hunger it was just head hunger. If the answer is yes then I make myself eat something that is total protein, like more chicken breast and usually the idea of eating more protein is not what I want so I know its just head hunger. Its a crazy crazy mind game we play with ourselves right!
I did not know that Dahlonega is the first site of the US Gold Rush, hey I learned something new today! The festival sounds like a ton of fun! And a new grocery store, that is exciting. We have a new one that is just around the corner and I love it, it so clean and big and has amazing produce! I say go and scope it out and see what you like and then go back on Friday on pay day and have fun! They might be giving out freebies as a Grand Opening so go!
Exciting for your 5k on Sunday! Can't wait to hear how you do!
thanks for the encouragement. apparently i have trouble picking off plates and bowls when food has been eaten. I made my husband fill the bowl with soap the other day- because i was about to stick my little fingers into the bowl and grab hot chocolate souffle crumbs...
I've been filling in my 'hunger' sometimes with lettuce carrots as part of my meal. seems to help a little.
this is a chain grocery store and they have this amazing rotisserie chicken for $6! it is so yummy and I can eat it!
on the period front- mine has been MIA for 5-6 months- apparently the weight loss has caused them to go away? i don't get it but Im not looking a gift shark in the mouth... lol
Good morning everyone.
Daisy, I'm glad you're up and around but it definitely sucks when those colds hang on. Sending chicken soup thoughts your way!!
So the blankety blank scale hasn't moved in 10 days. I haven't been able to walk as regularly as I was and I have made some late night choices that were bad but not catastrophic, so I'm not sure what's up. And what's up with late night eating? I make good choices all day then 10 pm comes and I eat a cookie. WTF?
Qotd: this will be my first thanksgiving post op so I don't know. I need to get a plan. I'll be reading these responses carefully today.

Thanks for the chicken soup vibes!
For sure no scale movement is very frustrating. But in your heart of hearts if you can ask yourself if you are keeping your calories low, and doing high protein, low carb then you know that the scale will move. I think you are in a stall. Your calories are low, your protein is high and your carbs are low, you are doing all the right things. Tell you what I would do and this is based on what you posted as your menu today.
- Make Protein Shakes with water or half milk and half water, saves on the calories (not sure how yours was made with its just a suggestion)
- Don't eat soup at 5 months out. Or are you eating the chicken & leeks and ditching the broth? Its all about dense protein right now, eat just the chicken, and very little to no leeks. Same thing with the butter chicken. Eat just butter chicken, you don't need brussel sprouts.
- I tend to think back on when we do AMAW... when I eat 4-5 oz of chicken breast meat I have no room for veggies. If I eat 4-5 shrimp with ****tail sauce, again no room for veggies. You are in your honeymoon phase and eating veggies, even if they are low carb veggies is taking up room in your pouch that you could be filling with dense protein.
Just some suggestions.
As for the late night eating. Are you really hungry? Are you bored? Tonight if the urge to grab a cookie comes at 10pm make yourself drink two cups of your fav drink and then ask yourself if you are still hungry and if yes then make yourself eat something pure protein and if you turn your nose up at that then you are not hungry. Cookies feed our head hunger and our carb monster hunger. Good luck!
Dearest Daisy - You are so gracious. Thanks for saying this.
I am eating only chicken and leeks. 90% chicken, 10% leeks for flavor, no broth. I make my protein shakes with cashew milk since lactose makes me very sick. I plan on eating butter chicken and one brussel sprout.
I have two problems: one the late night eating, and two, the bottomless pouch vs. AMAW.
First, I take an antidepressant that makes me ravenous. I usually take it and hop in bed so that the effect happens when I'm asleep. Sometimes though I get woken up and my legs lead me to the kitchen and my hands put food in my mouth. I'm joking and of course I am making the choices, but it does sort of feel like a zombie thing. I'm not sure what to do about this other than put the fear of God into my teenagers about waking me up, lol.
2nd, I am always hungry (stupid antidepressant). Adding veggies has been a way for me to tame the pouch beast without adding a lot of calories. However... when we did AMAW, I lost my appetite. That would be a good thing except I really didn't feel good eating just meat. I had no appetite and was only getting in 300 calories a day. I decided to add some low carb veggies in and I feel better as in more energy, but my appetite comes back. It's a dilemma, letmetellya!
I do welcome your input!

Sorry you've been sick, Daisy. Hope things turn around for you pronto.
QOTD: I usually cook for Turkey Day, even if it's just a small meal for my immediate family. Some years my boys are with their dad, some years they're home, so it just depends. We never go anywhere...and I'm fine with that.
I'm both an avoider and an adapter. I've adapted my favorite T Day dessert ( pumpkin cheesecake ) into being WLS friendly, and changed up my dressing recipe somewhat. I allow myself a small amount of dressing. ( I put sage sausage in it, so hey...it's got protein in it! ) I make it mostly for my daughter and husband. We no longer make potatoes, but my hubby has to have crescent rolls, so I make those for him and allow myself a 1/2 of one. I avoid corn, and my daughter always makes green beans with bacon and onions, so I have that instead. I also no longer eat an entire pumpkin cheesecake like I would have before surgery...haha. I will have a couple of small slices over the days after...and this year make my daughter take the rest home with her.
My menu hasn't been planned for the day, but a turkey burger with bacon and cheese is definitely in the cards for lunch. ( we had those for dinner last night. Gotta love leftovers! ) Sipping my morning coffee while I type.
I have a crap-ton of bacon cooked up, so it may play a role in dinner as well. I discovered bacon jam ( or jelly ). I made it a while back and was really happy with how it turned out.
Bacon rocks, does it not?
Happy Hump Day, all.
