What's on your Menu Today (Wednesday) RNYers?

I can totally appreciate having Thanksgiving at someone else's house but doing the cooking. My house is tiny and my sister's house is huge, I can cook but she can't so ya right there with ya.
I just wanted to say I hope you are also taking care of yourself as you take care of your Dad. We as caregivers often get so wrapped up in the one that is sick we neglect ourselves. If you are not at your best its hard to give someone else your best.
My Grandmother who was also my best friend died from complications of Alzheimers in 2009. My Mom (her daughter) is showing definitive signs of dementia. It runs on both side of my family. I know what you are going through, I am sending love and prayers your way as you navigate this difficult time. I have to say you get a "pat on the back" for coming here on OH every day, posting your menu and being positive.
Keep up the great work!
thanks. Alzheimer's runs on both sides of my family, too. Three of my four grandparents had it (and the fourth one might have if he lived long enough - he died in a car accident when he was in his 50s, so we'll never know). It is tough. It is hard emotionally and mentally, and as my friend said (who just went through it herself), there's no good ending to it. He's now near the end - we switched him over to hospice a couple of weeks ago. It's really, really hard. I did not go to the nursing home yesterday because I was so worn down. I felt a bit guilty, but then I have to take care of myself or else I am useless to him. Headed back out there today with my stepmother. She usually just stays an hour or two (as opposed to my 5-6 hours), so maybe this is a good thing.... Anyway, thanks again. It's helpful to know that other people can relate to this...
My father passed away from complications from frontal lobe dementia. That's one of the reasons I agreed to convert to RNY. There have been studies that tangentially link PPI use to dementia and I figured the odds were not in my favor.
Is second Daisy's sentiments and send my love and prayers. Being a caregiver to a dementia/alzheimer's sufferer is no easy task
Good morning DD2 (Daisydoo002), thanks for starting us off early so I can get my post in before I have to leave for work. I can't keep my phone on me at work, and once I get there it's usually balls to the walls busy until I get break. I hate posting anything longer than a quick reply from my phone, so an earlier post here allows me to post with a bit of time to spare. Today is the first day that my hubby is home and we both have to get ready for work together, it all went rather smoothly and Im ready to go very early.
I hope you feel better soon, it sounds like you were pretty sick and I'm sorry. I've been lucky enough that I haven't been really sick in quite a while. I just knocked on wood...
DD2QOTD: I do both. Years ago, we split the holiday and went to both my family's side and my in-laws, but it just got to be too much for us with the kids and for my brother and sister in law with the 4 kids, so we decided that I'd host a dinner for my side of the family on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. I don't know how that is going to work this year, since I may have to work, but it's been that way for a few years now. This Thanksgiving is only going to be my second one since surgery, so I'm not sure how I'm going to handle it. I except that I will indulge in a little bit of the carby stuff, but I won't eat rolls. I'll most likely have a small portion of mashed potatoes, stuffing and a small bite of dessert on top of the turkey that I plan to eat. My pouch is "maturing" but it is by no means huge, so I should be able keep the bulk to a minimum.
My plan for the day:
14.5 months since surgery
B: 2 eggs, 3 slices of bacon and coffee with sugar free coffeemate
L: Chicken and Chinese veg
D: either ground beef with zucchini and tomato sauce, or taco meat
S: light and fit greek and shrimp with ****tail sauce.
totals
calories 1089 protein 117 carbs 36 fat 46
my calories are a little high, but I'll deal with it. Have a great day everyone!

Love your "DD2" that's awesome. I am up so early and at work so early I decided to start us off on the menu thread. I will try that more often and chat with AV on her thoughts on this.
I am really thrilled your new job is going so well. Its good to be busy. You are such an outgoing person and you need the stimulation of work and meeting people and helping people, I see this as such a great fit for you Deanna. And a few extra bucks in your pocket will be a nice treat!
I have to say since you are dealing with the public so much and touching this and that and have a little guy at home please tell me you are washing the heck out of your hands! This cold is nasty, you don't want it. "Knock on wood!!"
Glad you do your family and your hubby's family on different dates, I think with little ones its just too much to try and fit both families in one day.
Have an awesome day at work!
We missed you daisy... glad to see you are back in the saddle...
Colder weather is here and definitely comfort food time.... I haven't tried oatmeal with protein powder. My daily fix has been Chocolate Chai Latte made with Cashew milk, vanilla extract, sweetener, cocoa powder and of course chai....yummmm
QOTD: Thanksgiving has been an odd holiday for me for awhile.... Don't have a set routine as I don't know whether my son is here and family, and if they do come they fly on the holiday.... My 2 brothers that live close - one decided to abandon spending Thanksgiving with family years ago, and my other brother celebrates every other year when his Kids aren't with their Mom- he's divorced. I have to give a shoutout to my brother though He got custody of those 5 girls when He got divorced- at the time they were ages 7 to 17.... now they are 22 to 32 years old and lovely young ladies...He loves those kids.. .. I am proud of the great job he's done...
As far as food?? Turkey, gravy, veggie is easy... and yes a small piece of dessert. The hard part is not picking at appetizers and things waiting.....
1: Coffee latte with fairlife milk and Miralax, egg rolled omelet with lox, cream cheese and onion
2: Chicken and lentil soup(homemade) with added protein powder
3: parmesan crusted flounder, Spaghetti squash
Snacks: including Chocolate Chai latte, Syntrax Fuzzy Navel protein drink, greek yogurt
EX: 21-day-fix

I missed you all too! Its cold here too. Yesterday and today I have had to put the seat heater on in my car and I am wearing leather gloves the steering wheel is so cold. Yup welcome to Fall!
You are blessed to have a large family Cyndy and lots of options of going there or you have a ton of friends who I know would love to have you over! And yes kudo's to your brother, raising kids is hard on its own, but as a Male with 5 girls and a single parent. Blessed.
Oh I forgot about appetizers... if there are any I will only go for the protein ones, like shrimp or Swedish meatballs.
I love lentils but never think to make them, your soups sounds yummy!
How do you like the Syntrax Fuzzy Navel, I was thinking of ordering some, I love all things Peach!
Love the fuzzy navel. I like that it tastes good mixed with water and I've made it blended with yogurt smoothie tastes like an an orange Julius

Hey thanks for starting Daisy! Haven't heard from you so I'm glad you are getting over your sickness.
QOTD: this is my first REAL thanksgiving after RNY. last year I was pre surgery so I'm sure while i didn't eat too bad, I likely wasn't on plan. This year I'm not sure what the plans are. We either go out to a nice place who cooks for us or do a family thing.
Yesterday I felt like i had a damn tapeworm and my head hunger was in full force. There was a yasso bar involved for 100 calories and a tiny bit of pizza toppings. Today appears to be much better already. Scale up .5 pounds today. I'm sure it will go back down. Our new grocery store opened yesterday and I can't wait to go to it but get paid Friday so we will see if I go early or on Friday. Saturday is our 'gold rush' festival in town. Did you know that Dahlonega GA was the first site of the US gold rush and not california? Yep- its true and we feel the need to have a big festival for it. People are still finding gold in our streams here. this also means fried fair foods and crafts so we will go on saturday. sunday is my 5k race so it will be a super early morning.
