What's on your Menu Today (Wednesday) RNYers?
the number I see thrown around on these boards a lot is that about 30% of RNY'ers dump. That number may be higher as there are lots of people who don't push the envelope, so they wouldn't know for sure if they dum*****t. But suffice it to say, not everyone dumps.
I've never dumped - but then, I don't pu**** I will occasionally (like a couple times a month) have something like a small cookie (Chips Ahoy size or smaller) or a couple of forkfuls of cake. But then I'm more worried about old habits creeping in than dumping at this point. Although for a lot of people it takes more than that to dump.
I do use half & half in my coffee, but not much. It's never bothered me.
you're smart to try things at home first. I did a lot of that my first couple of months after surgery. The last thing I wanted to do was get sick while at work or at a restaurant.
Hi- I stayed on plan for as long as humanly possible. maybe a bite of something now and again but that is it. get that weight off asap because you don't get that honeymoon time back. the further out you are, the harder it is to drop the weight like in the beginning. BUT maybe try the oikos triple zero or light and fit. or try plain greek with mio or even sugar free pudding mix added. If you have a kroger grocery they have a carbmaster yogurt I swear by. It will help. some of us also add protein powder to the yogurt, maybe chia or flax and heat in micro for a 'non oatmeal' type deal. jus****ch those sugars in the yogurt.
Hi Karen,
I'm nearly five months post op and I dump on fructose (berries) so I haven't messed around with sucrose. However, the lactose in yogurt doesn't bother me, but milk makes me really sick. Everyone's different. Stacy in this group gets sick on yogurt too.
It's really trial and error. I would proceed with caution.

BE NOT AFRAID JPII
I think I've dumped once already. Not by cheating. I had a 3 oz portion of pureed homemade beef veg soup. Something I had already 3 times before. All of a sudden I had cold sweats, abd. cramping, racing heart rate. I had to lie down for about an hour, then it was gone?? Told the dietitian, she said it prob. wasn't. NOT something I want to happen again, whatever it was!!
