What's On Your Tuesday Menu, RNYers?
I hope the appointment goes well and that you can start to feel more like yourself.
As I mentioned in a comment yesterday, for awhile I had to have my scale hidden from me until Fridays which are my official "weigh-in" days because it would get me down too. For me it has all been part of this process.
I also was told no straws for something like 6 months which was when I started using one with no issues. I think my surgeons program mentioned that some people may end up swallowing additional air which might cause gas and be uncomfortable. I know some people were given a straw in the hospital and never had an issue.
Thanks! The appointment went well. I left feeling pretty good. I know this wont be instantaneous, but part of me really wanted to ask her for a script for non-habit forming anti-anxiety meds, lol. I didn't though.
Yeah I'm trying to avoid the scale, maybe down to once a week. But I get so curious!
I'll wait a bit to use a straw again. Most of my nices****er bottles (particularly for the gym) have straws, so i'm going to definitely try it again.

I am going to pose a QOTD-
QOTD: Have support group at the hospital tonight. They have 2 groups a month. First is pre and post op and second is post op only. Tonight includes Pre-ops and I am going... which means alot of crazy questions... but gotta give back, right? SO what is your support like and do you go to any groups. I am lucky to have several in the community I go to as well that were started by WLS patients. But I still go to the hospital one when I can.
1: Coffee latte, miralax and fairlife. Spaghetti squash 'potato' pancake omelet
2: Cobb salad- avacado, egg, chicken, bacon
3: chicken parm.
Snacks: TBD including probably protein bar at support and my new fav Chocolate Chai
Ex: 21 day fix
QOTD: I don't follow horoscopes... But I am a Leo if I did. I think it fits...

I never have time for real life support groups! My surgery was over an hour away, and their support groups are on like Tuesday at 11:00. uummm I work. Not going to happen. But then the local bariatric program has a support group that is after the time I get out of work, but I have no one to watch the kids. ugh So you guys are it for me!
QOTD: My hospital/surgical team has a WLS support group that meets every 2nd Thursday of the month at the convention center. I missed last month, but I'm definitely going to one this thursday. I don't know any in my area outside of it though. I come here to OH daily though. its good to see how others live with RNY and how great my future could be.

My surgeon has a support group that meets once a month. I always say I'm going to go, but I've never been. OH and this thread in particular are my support group.
My program offers 6 support groups a month. There are different ones for different needs (back-on track, information and general). I attend a general psychological once a month. I totally get 'giving back' because there a months that I don't want to leave the house again (the meeting is 6:30-8p) and I don't "need" anything but remind myself that someone else may "need" something I have to share. Does that make sense? There are the usual group of us that attend and then always new people or ones that come occasionally, and I always leave feeling better than when I got there so it's a win-win.
