You guys, I just totally spaced.  LMAO  I entered all my foodstuffs into MFP like 2 hours ago and then promptly forgot to post the menu thread.  HA!  I need a nap already.  Be back shortly...

OK, for a variety of reasons this day is already shaping up to be a weird one, and I have many miles to go before I sleep.  At least the new girl I'm training today isn't a box of rocks.  So I got that goin' for me.  Which is nice.  HA!  I love Caddyshack.

QOTD!  Hey baby, what's your sign?    I don't really put any stock in astrology, but I'll read my horoscope if I happen to run across it in the paper or whatever.  But I want to know, does your sign at all correspond to your personality?  I'm a Gemini, and I think it fits me pretty well, although I could probably see myself in any of the signs.  So, we Geminis are supposed to love to talk, are eager to learn new things, can communicate effectively and are quick witted and bright.  We are also fickle, moody and restless.  Yay for the Twins!

Time since surgery:  2 years, 2+ months

B:  Light multigrain English muffin with ricotta and SF red raspberry preserves

S:  Caramel apple pie Light & Fit Greek and some 34 Degree crackers with a LC wedge

L:  shrimp with reduced sugar ****tail sauce and some salt and pepper pork rinds

D:  barbecue salmon egg scramble

Since I have to work my PT job tonight, I have no idea when any of these things are going to be eaten except for the dinner.  Which depending on how I feel when I get home at 9:30, may or may not happen.  I reserve the right to modify as I see fit, dammit!  LOL

TOTALS:  Cals:  887  Protein:  91  Carbs:  68  Fat:  32

Have a great day you guys!

Good morning and Happy Tuesday AV and crew!

Eastcoasters, is it just me or did it become winter overnight? I live in southern VA, where it was warm just last week and starting yesterday, I need a jacket and a scarf!

Got about 15 min of zumba and a 20 minute walk in before work! Will be walking again later today as I try to sell our holiday mag at the Riverwalk in Yorktown.

I've got that counseling appointment at noon. Super excited to get on track with the anxiety and depression worked out. I want to be me again.

EDIT: Answer to AV's QOTD: I'm an aquarius. What they say "Aquarius-born are shy and quiet , but on the other hand they can be eccentric and energetic. However, in both cases, they are deep thinkers and highly intellectual people who love helping others. They are able to see without prejudice, on both sides, which makes them people who can easily solve problems." I think its only somewhat correct, but i'm also a Dragon from the chinese zodiac, when you put both signs together, you get closer to who I really am.

Weight loss question: I dropped a considerable amount (26 lbs) in my first month post op. I think the last 2 weeks i've only dropped 4lbs. I'm trying not to hop on the scale everyday, but it's a bit disappointing. THen again, any loss is good. Any one else experience this in month 1-2?

Surgery Question: Were any of you told you can't use a straw for the first 6-12 months after your surgery (because of how fast you'd take in liquids?) I can't remember if I heard our nurse correctly in my pre-op class.

Busy day but I may be back to respond socialize on the thread later!

The straw advice is old school advice. I would say not the first couple of weeks, but I started using one at about 3 weeks. I find it easier to use those travel cups with straws. They did do an article here on OH this year about it...you might be able to search.

Good luck at the therapist, and don't worry about the weight slowing down... months fluctuate as to how much...normal.

I was also told no straws.  I didn't use them for the first couple of months, but I use them now and have never had a problem.

I'm another one that uses a straw against the NUTS wishes. I was compliant for a long time, then one day I just found myself drinking from a straw, nothing happened, and I continued on.

I am sipping from a straw right now!

(and does anyone else find themselves taking a drink of their water every time they read abou****er on this site?? I swear I get more water in just reading on here! hahaha)

26 pounds in a month is a lot- don't be surprised if the following month is MUCH slower. you can also do searches in the box and see other stats from people.

I was told no straws period for good, as well as no carbonate beverages, no caffeine.

My Surgeon never said No caffeine, and He went to a Bariatric Medical conference this year and has changed his stance on carbonated beverages. The research doesn't support it according to him... He used to say never....So now he says not for the first 6 months. It is a comfort thing more. I still don't do it because it is uncomfortable.

Caffiene and Carbonation are off my surgeon's plan until one year out. I was never much of a caffeine person, and I don't like carbonated drinks either. I am, however, a straw drinker. I was just unclear as to how long I should wait to introduce it back or if she said forever (which would suck).

It's interesting how rules can change with new research though.

Straws are fine. The prohibition is because you can suck in air with the liquid, and be uncomfortable.

If you are uncomfortable with straws, stop. If you aren't, go ahead.

Interesting. My plan says no caffeine, carbonation, (and alcohol, but for many different reasons) for life is the recommendation. Their reasoning is to avoid anything that could irritate the stomach lining, or lead to an ulcer. But I love that the research is ongoing. Things change, like the no drinking 30 minutes before eating. I was told there isn't enough evidence to support that practice.
