My Fitness Pal Question
When I log my exercise onto My Fitness Pal, I always log the exact same thing: Walking, 3.0 mph, mod. pace, walking dog. At first it said I burned 77 calories doing this. Then about a week ago it started saying I burned 76 calories for the exact same exercise and today it says 75 calories burned. Does My Fitness Pal adjust how many calories you burn depending on how much you weigh? Why would it change the number of calories burned? Does anyone know?
As a side note, my dogs practically DRAG me down the street with them, they go at full trot, so I question whether it's really a "moderate pace" that I'm walking. It sure feels like a brisk pace to me, trying to keep up with these two! LOL!
Picture of me walking the dogs, taken a month or two ago.
Thanks!

Yes MFP does adjust for your weight in calculating exercise.
If you want to know your pace- you need to know how far you are walking. You can use something like "Map my run" to calculate distance, and then time yourself.

Yes, the lighter you get, the fewer calories you burn for doing the exact same activity.
I wouldn't push past the "moderate" pace. We tend to think we are working harder and burning more calories than we actually are.
Think about getting a Fitbit. The calories burned are fairly close to what rwally is happening, and you won't have to log individual activity. I find it indispensable.

I think its a glitch in the mfp app. Often when I go back to the app, the exercise calories will go down a little. I don't pay it any mind since I don't want to eat back my calories anyway, but yeah it's a quirk of the app.
The only thing I can suggest is try a different app when it comes to exercise, & use mfp just for the food.

Hi Karen,
That's funny about your Chihuahua that lays down. Tippy, my Chihuahua LOVES to go for a walk. When I start putting on my shoes she gets all excited and starts jumping around like crazy. My other dog, Blossom, golden retriever mix, also enjoys walking. They walk well together, although Tippy thinks she has to bark at every human and dog we see along the way. She thinks she owns the neighborhood! LOL!

My Chihuahua pulls and HAS to be at least a nose in front of my beagle (small dog dominance)!

I don't even log my exercise. I have a FitBit and use that as a gauge as to how active I am. I do not want to have any view or sight of calories burned so that I'm not tempted to eat them back. I know it's all mental, but I just can't see that number.
