6 Weeks Post Op!
Max Weight: 376
Day of Surgery: 361
6 Weeks Post Op: 316
-------
I'm just over 6 weeks post op... This whole thing has been the easiest process ever... I had no pain whatsoever... It just felt like I had done about 300 crunches in a day... But that was minimal soreness and lasted maybe 2 days... I was taking normal sized drinks of water the next day and tolerated that just fine, so getting my 64 ounces a water a day is a cake...
But...
I'm always hungry... Starving rather... And when your told to only eat 3 times a day, makes for very long days... The surgeon said there isn't anything that could be done about it and to try to eat heavier protein sources... That really doesn't do much... Maybe off setting the hunger by a hour max...
I don't have the feeling of being full... I don't know I'm full until I've eaten to much... The discomfort lasts about 15 -30 minutes it passes and all is good... I don't get nauseous and vomit... The food literally just starts coming back up... The pouch gets full and it just piles up in my throat... lol... It's an odd feeling...
And the lack of energy still persists... I'm still at the energy levels I was pre op... I keep waiting for all these energy boosts everyone talks about to kick in... But nothing yet... Walking is much easier now, so I'm doing more things, but its not cause I have more energy...
STOP trying to feel full! STOP eating until the food backs up into your throat! Why on earth would you keep doing that to yourself?
You've had major surgery. The nerves have been cut, and you will not feel full at this point.
You should be measuring your food at this stage. 1/4 cup per meal. Start measuring. Learn the signals that you have had enough before you harm yourself.
It will be a while before your energy comes back completely. Most people need naps for quite a while.
Stop trying to rush things. Have some patience. And get some control. If you don't injure your insides, you will most certainly injure your chances of reaching your goal weight.

i measure my food and i'm well within my limits. food comes up regardless of amount. it could come up after only one bite or three depending on what the food is. there are never any indicators it's going to happen, it just happens. and yes, i am supposed to have a full feeling according to my surgeon.
That's not the way you wrote it in your post. You described a trouble free recovery from surgery. In your words, "This whole thing has been the easiest process ever... I had no pain whatsoever... " Now you are saying that food backs up into your esophagus after only one bite? That seems like a pretty big problem, if true.
Your surgeon is wrong about the full feeling at your stage. Someone who hasn't had surgery themselves just doesn't know first hand.

I am 7 weeks out and I measure my food faithfully. I never have the feeling of hungry or full, I eat 3 meals a day and maybe 1 snack, which would be a greek yogurt. I try to eat mostly dense protein, I eat by the clock and not by how I feel. I try to get all of my protein in with out having to drink a protein shake. You just had a very najoe surgery, don't try and stretch your pouch out in the first couple of months!

I, too, am six weeks out from RNY (8/23/16). I don't know that I would say that the process to date has been easy for me. I have been struggling with both liquid intake, getting enough protein, and getting in exercise.
I was getting sick (not vomiting, but feeling horrible) from any and all types of protein shakes. Thankfully, advice from this board has me heading in the right direction now. It seems that I can not tolerate milk - I can have cheese and yogurt, but drinking milk or adding it to shakes makes me feel ill. Another member suggested Cocotein. I didn't like that so much, but right next to it at GNC was Isopure. It's a little high in calories, but helps me get in both protein (each bottle has 40g!) and liquids. My point is that board members can offer really great advice!
My food intake seems to be the exact opposite of yours. I NEVER feel hungry and can easily feel full. So, just like others suggested, I still measure my food and eat on a schedule. Although my program suggests 3 meals and 1-2 snacks, I usually only get in the three meals or I feel too uncomfortable. I do track my food and liquid using MFP and average about 300-500 calories a day.
As I am able to get in more protein, my energy level is starting to increase. I have to admit that once I went back to work (3 weeks after surgery), I was SO tired by late afternoon, that I really struggled with getting exercise in. After my 5 week check up, my doctor scolded me for not losing enough weight (22 lbs from surgery date - according to her should have lost between 25-35 lbs) and strongly encouraged me to get at least 30 mins of exercise in a day. I have increased my exercise (most days I'm getting in 20-30 mins) and it seems to be helping my energy level.
Good luck!
Are you chewing really well? My center suggests three meals only, but I would never get enough food in if I did that. My surgeon said if i stay within my guidelines for dsily intake do whatever.
So I plan first thing in the morning and just eat throughout the day. Sometimes I can eat my whole burger in one sitting, others I might have to break it up. My Aggie is a moody pouch.
I would guess you are eating too fast and not chewing well enough.
