Hey girl, just got to reading this and I have nothing but tears... Of JOY... for all of us that have struggled. Being a fat kid from age 5 all throughout life and all the shame and pain that associates itself with that really takes a toll.

Omg! You have lived my life. My first diet was at age 6 because my mom, (who never had a weight problem) decided I was too heavy and she I truly believe was embarrassed of me.

Totally know where you are coming from.  MY dad was the one that was meanest about my weight. In high school I remember he telling me I wasn't allowed to be friends with one girl in particular.  I asked why and he said, "She is even fatter than you.  If you are around her you will start thinking it is ok to be fat."

So hard to deal with and it shapes you and your self esteem, body image, relationship with food. I have 2 grandbabies, age 3 and 5,girl and boy. We are very conscious of our words, neither are overweight however tall for their age and children can be mean. Both of them have been called names, and we try to reinforce not to respond in kind but they are little so it doesn't always work. Always try for healthy snacks, healthy portion sizes and guiding their choices. Never want them to experience the heartbreak I have.
