HELP!! 5 days post op from RNY
on Friday, September 30th, I had that horrible lap and removed and converted to RNY. I have not had much pain besides gas. I've been following the rules of sipping on protein shakes, water, broth, and jello. I used the small cups of 1 ounce to make sure I wasn't drinking too much at once. But I am starving. I won't eat anything. I'll drink more protein or water. I called the doctor's office and I'm waiting for a call back. Has anyone else not been satisfied during the first week?
Im a "lightweight" my highest weight was 196
day of surgery I was 186.8
after surgery I was 195 due to all the fluid and air
today I'm 181.
I dont want this hunger to stop my weight loss.
I have been out the house running errands on Monday and Tuesday. Today I'm taking it easy because I felt like I was way too fatigued once I got home. Overall I fell great.
Are you taking an acid reducer like Omeprazole or Protonix? Sometimes acid feels like hunger, especially early on. Drink tons. Like every second...always have a drink by your side. Hang in there. I never really felt hungry for the first six months or so...

yes take it anyway. They give it to you also to help with healing. You have suture lines that are trying to heal in there.

It will pass. The first couple of weeks are the worst.
Try drinking more. If you feel uncomfortable, slow down. But if you are tolerating it, you don't have to do just 1 ounce at a time.
Sugar free jello and popsicles will be your friend right now.

You are going to feel like utter crap until you get more fluids in. A lot more. 64 ounces should be your minimum goal right now.
Dehydration will do all sorts of bad things to you. It's no joke. Do whatever you need to do to get more in.
