Loose Skin & Hair Loss
No one likes it but for me it's better than morbid obesity. Some may disagree. If you can save for plastic surgery it helps. As far as hair loss, fortunately that is usually temporary and as long as you keep up nutritionally it shouldn't be a long term problem.
When I was younger it bothered me a lot more but now I am so happy to be healthy that I really don't care much.

They both are really hard, but unfortunately part of the deal we made. I'm three weeks post op today and down 25 lbs. I'm surprised at how much creepy skin I have on my arms already. For the hair loss, I think it's harder for woman. I've been through it before with a prior surgery and it was devastating. This time I will get a hair piece and hope it comes back. My mother is very thin at the crown so mine may not come back this time, I'm 56. I have accepted it all as part of the metamorphosis to emerge a new healthy me.

Loose skin-- unavoidable. Do I have it - yes. Does it bother me- no. Arms and stomachs are most prominent, thighs to a smaller degree. It doesn't impede anything I do daily, or cause rashes etc.
i think how much it bothers you depends in how you carried your weight, and the level self confidence you had.
hair-- I won't comment on since I'd lost 70% of my hair pre-op. When I see posts about hair thinning and it being so 'bad' I get annoyed-- cry me a river.
IMO these are ares where things "could always be worse" but people's personal blinders never lets them see that.

I'm up to about 93 pounds lost and have both. The skin on my thighs bothers me most. Definitely will show with aa bathing suit no matter how much weight I lose or what I do to build muscle. My hair has always been a. Vanity thing for me so I think that's why it bothers me. But Peach is right. So many people have it much worse. It's a good trade for being healthier even if it doesn't grow back.

I shaved my head 6 weeks post-op to raise money for St. Baldricks, so I never had an issue with hair loss.
I have excess skin. It keeps me from doing jumping jacks but, other than that, oh well. It doesn't bother me other than the physical annoyance. I don't feel the need to cover my arms or legs. Some day, when I reach a goal, I'll start investigating plastic surgeons.

I have lost 153 pounds and have (as someone posted once) a cascading waterfall of akin on my legs, stomach, and butt. Yes it would be nice not to have it, but the alternative of carrying all that extra weight makes it OK. The legs stay hidden under long shorts or capris, but definitely shown in a bathing suit. I don't care. Flying squirrel arms are kept covered at work. Short sleeves and tank tops when not at work. My hair thinned a bit, but not enough that was noticeable to most people. I just changed my hairstyle during that time and it has been ok. I has twins too so my stomach skin is a hot mess. And the boobs. Well I just roll them up into my bra and go on about my day. All worth it to feel so much healthier than ever before. I am going to start looking into plastics for my stomach soon, then save my money.

I was lucky and didn't lose any hair. There really isn't anything you can do to stop it if it does happen, but it should grow back. Google telogen effluvium.
If you lose a lot of weight, you will have extra skin. Guaranteed. And like the hair, there is not a thing you can do about it. I have a lot less excess skin than others who lost half the weight I did. But that was just luck. Genetics, age, how long you carried around the extra weight are all factors.
But I would rather be bald and slim than continue down the obesity path I was on.

As someone who lost all her hair previously because of chemo I was concerned about the hair loss but then I got to where peachpie is - cry me a river when people get really, really freaked out about the hair loss. I get being concerned about it, I do. BUT it's not that big of deal. I talked to my hair stylist about it right before surgery and she said to take biotin which I don't know if it really helps or not but it makes my nails really healthy so I kept taking it lol. I definitely lost hair after the surgery and it was noticeable. But let me tell you - didn't care all that much.
Loose skin...my experience is two fold (ha - folds, get it, skin folds??). I don't give a crap about my stomach or thighs. Yes I have loose skins, but no one sees it but me and I can cover it up. So it truly doesn't bother me at all. However, my arms are really stressful for me. I have always had large arms and now it's worse than ever because the fat that was there before has become loose skin and some leftover fat. And it's very hard to hide that.
But I think it completely depends on where you carry your weight. I carried mine in my arms so that's where my problem is.
Again though I wouldn't change anything. I'm beyond happy with my experience.
