September surgery roll call
Had my RNY on 9/7 (had lap band removed and had RNY) - Doing good. Just started solid foods yesterday, so that was exciting. Made me a little nervous. Went with grilled salmon, so everything turned out fine. No ill effects. My doctor is happy with my progress. I've lost 37 lbs so far (20 during liquid pre-op phase and 17 since surgery).
Had RNY 9-16-16 and feeling great. Using the abdominal band has helped when sleeping and going for walks. I started going for 1 hour walks 2 weeks postoperative. I've transitioned from full fluids to puréed foods well however on an RAI restricted diet in preparation for therapy. No dairy, eggs, fish, no protein shakes, no packaged, prepared, frozen or canned foods, nothing with salt or iodine. It's been difficult getting protein in. Marking all foods on fitnessPal and getting 700-850/day. Is that too much? I finally had an iceberg lettuce salad with oil and balsamic and ground chicken (1/2c of each) and it was heavenly! Better than the homemade tomato sauce over spaghetti squash!!! Preop was 3 weeks of Ensure 5x/day and I lost 20lbs. Since surgery (3 weeks tomorrow) I've lost an additional 20 pounds. I can almost feel ONEderful!! I have nausea often and missing drinking coffee which I cannot stand the smell of. My sense of smell has increased dramatically and turned off by pungent odors. I see Nut next week. The only regret I have is not taking enough preop pics. My family tells me the changes are noticeable but I just don't see what they see or seen. So advice to RNYers preop... Take pics! ð?¤" I hope all September Surgeries went well and you all are succeeding in your journeys!
