Question for those who have had great success and kept it off...
Of these things, the only thing I have problems with are ice cream. If I eat more than about a quarter cup, I feel like total crap. The other stuff is not a problem, but I usually skip buns, as a choice.

I should add, yhere are things I have chosen not to eat, at all. I haven't had any pasta in over 4 years, for instance. But with the exception of ice cream, nothing bothers me -- unless I eat too much of it.
It's all choices. I can eat a burger with a bun, unless it's a really big bun. Bread fills you fast. But I often skip the bun altogether, and will eat a half dozen fries instead. Choices -- bun, or a few fries.
That's how my life goes.

Of that list I can't eat fried foods. Early on it caused stomach upset- so I've steered clear of them ever since. I could probably tolerate it now-- but I've gotten used to not eating anything fried.
I avoid eating buns- if I do I only eat 1/2 the bun.

At 8 years out I can and do eat anything I want. Sweet things make me feel sick, if I eat too much. I still choose to eat them sometimes (and then have to take a nap because they make me super-sleepy). I eat a small piece of birthday cake when we celebrate family birthdays, I eat ice cream (but like Grim it makes me sick after wards so I rarely eat much), I eat hamburgers with the bun, and I definitely eat fried food. The trick for me is to make good choices 90% of the time.

I am not great success but think a comment or two may help. I had pre-WLS anxiousness about giving up old favorites. It hasn't been all that bad. For example, a cut up apple mixed with plain Greek yogurt sprinkled with cinnamon and walnut pieces has become a favorite "sundae treat." "Chocolate cake" is now a recipe for black bean brownies. Finding healthier substitutes might help you feel like you are not giving up a thing and stand a good chance at becoming preferred.
