New Foods (Transition Period)
I'm 3 week post op. Today is the day to transition to soft foods. On my plan it suggested 1 egg (scramble) and 2 tbsp. of soft fruit. I started with the egg and let me tell you - OMG I wanted to die. I ate it slowly and at one point I thought I was going to suffocate. It came back up like 3 times. I hope this is not an indication of what is coming! Other than that I feel fantastic. I'm going back on purees et****il I totally feel ready.
I could not eat eggs until Month 2 or 3... Eggs are dense....

LOl. Same thing with me. I have tried shirred eggs... Made with high protein milk and they were so soft. Nope. I tried egg salad made with a tiny bit of lowcal mayo. OMG. Now the smell of eggs makes me a little ill. I am swearing off for a while now. And I used to love eggs.
I had the same experience wih tuna. Som here love it. Had to choke down a small can of the sweet and spicy tuna packet. For the moment I am back to cottage cheese, yogurt, and refried beans, although that is getting a little old.
You might tey some sf pudding made with high protein milk, I love it. Also cheese sticks seem to stay down fine for me.
My doc only recommends soft boiled or poached eggs in the beginning.... scrambled are too hard...

Eggs seem like they would be easy, but most people can't tolerate them for a while. So, congratulations on being normal.
Ground beef is another thing that seems like it should be easy, already being ground. But it is also not easy.

I could never understand why eggs are on the list so soon... they are like heavy rubber balls at first.
What helped me in the beginning was scrambling them with a little ricotta cheese mixed in... it's a Sicilian Grandma thing... a little oregano, ricotta cheese, sprinkle of Parmesan... it helps everything slide on down and bonus extra protein too!
So moral of the story... don't give up on any food if it doesn't work at first... we are all unique snowflakes and just cause the paper says it's time for something doesn't mean our rearranged guts got the memo ;)
