Surgery gas or lactose intolerance.
Hello newbie gross gas question alert!
i had surgery last Friday and it took till Monday to start passing gas. I'm extremely bloated and still having a lot of gas so I'm wondering if I'm not tolerating calcium. Any idea how I could tell? im still working my way up to 3 shakes a day but I am getting in my water which my surgeon said should be my first priority. Any thoughts are appreciated!

At this point, it is almost certainly from the surgery. It is from the gas they pump you up with to move the instruments around inside. It is unlike gas you get in your digestive system, so gas-x and similar things won't help. Time and walking. Time and walking.
You can go lactose free, but by the time that has an effect, the surgical gas would be gone. And you would never know which was the cause.
If your protein shakes are 100 percent whey protein isolate, they are lactose free. Of course, mixing the powder in regular milk will negate that.

Didn't realize they are lactose free. They are 100 percent whey protein isolate. Good to know where all this is coming from. Thank you.

It took well more than a week to get all the gas out of my system. Then you get to deal with the gas from pooping (or not). Walking helped me more than anything. 19 days out now... I still fart at random times, which is a lovely and embarrassing new reality. I will be thin though ;)
