Calories/Macronutrients...Must be wrong! Ideas?
change it on a main computer (not an app ) and you can change it
supershopper,
Can you explain? Change what? I'm so sorry, I don't understand.
The standard setting is for a person to maintain their current weight (I would guess, those numbers are high!) or maybe lose very slowly. This setting, these "goals",are not for someone who has had WLS. Most people eat very low carb, low calories, and high protein after WLS. That is what most NUTs suggest for maximum weight loss. Even at maintenance I doubt you would be eating that much. BUT you can go into the setting and change what your daily target will be, as in how much protein, carbs, calories, etc do YOU want to eat every day. Most people decide these goals with their NUT.

supershopper,
WOW, thank you!!! I didn't really have a grip on how MFP works, until now. I believe everyone is different in their weight loss/health/exercise journeys. I'm so grateful for your explanation! I, like everybody, have unique cir****tances that must be addressed in a customized manner. I will be calling my NUT (having just done a new NUT panel) tomorrow, to discuss (or make an appt to discuss) my personal nutritional needs and macro targets. In the back of my mind, I knew that's what I should do, but it took your post to remind me to work with my NUT more. Bless you!!!
But I'm enjoying finding out the minute details of what I should and should not put in my mouth on MFP. It's so cool! I always hated food journalling, but it's kinda more "official" and easy with MFP.
My surgeon demands compliance with the South Beach Diet, which can be very frustrating and expensive but having read the book, it makes complete sense. Low Good Carbs, Low Good Fats, and protein, protein, protein. But, I'm human and I forgive myself for minor indulgences. MFP helps me map it all out, decipher my own needs and organizes things, now that I understand it.
PEACE
Sorry I thought you were asking if you can change the macros in MFP and you can. You need to login from a regular computer though.
I took a look at mine from last year when I was just starting out... here are my values
I'm 5-6 and was 278- sedentary also.
1400 cal
minimum prot 90
carb 100-160
I also began the vitamins at that time.
With those stats I still lost 53 pounds in 6 months- and you should be able to also :)
Keep the carbs as low as possible though !!
I was able to change it on my app. It's a new function, apparently, because I couldn't do it when I first signed up.
