Don't have a Joe's Crab Shack around here either... The closest one is near Rochester.
ETA: if you guys are coming for Thanksgiving, dress warm because you'll be eating outside. My 900 square foot house will not accommodate you all.
So, I bet you have more local type restaurants... and for that I am jealous! I really do try not to eat at chains... this was an exception. But to me, local is where it's at! I bet you have amazing seafood places to eat at too! My stuff was probably flown in from Indonesia!

I grew up on the SW side of Houston! I totally get that "Joe's" isn't a place I would have picked... but I absolutely refuse to step foot into Red Lobster... I think they're worse! I actually thing that "Joe's" started off in Houston, over on Richmond Ave... I went there MANY many moons ago, and it truly was a Shack! LOL Here in OKC, everything is shipped in, and I would place bets that most of it isn't from the USA at all... it's sometimes almost impossible to find seafood even from our country in the grocery stores! I HATE that!
When we get to Texas, I love my Pappadeauxs! I haven't eaten there since surgery... I'm afraid I won't have enough room to enjoy everything I used to eat there... But there are SO MANY excellent seafood places down there... I'm jealous of you now!
And thank you :) I've been dying to wear this outfit for weeks now! Today's high is only 74, so I wore it, boots and all!

That's so cool that you used to live here! Its still way to hot right now for fall wear. Last year it was mid 80's on Christmas day and not one single jacket was taken out of the closets for the whole winter season! I hope we get a good freeze this year. We have too many bugs!
Pappadeauxs is really good! There is one right by my work so when Vendors take us to lunch, that's where we go the most. I never buy seafood from the grocery stores. We drive down to the markets in Kemah. I don't know if I could handle not living close to fresh seafood.
Now tell me, you miss the Mexican food right?!
LOL, I adore Kemah!
I used to miss the Mexican food... but I left Houston and moved to Chicago... I got used to the more authentic food there, and actually like it. Now here in OKC, you can get pretty awesome Tex-Mex AND authentic Mexican food... oh how I adore Mexican food of all kinds! hahaha!
But Houston has some of the best restaurants of any city I've lived in! OK, well so did Chicago... but Atlanta and OKC aren't nearly as good!
