Completely Overwhelmed by Vitamins and medicines
It does seem a lot, right? I went out today and panicked when I realized I did not have enough liquid. We will learn, won't we?
Yes we will. I went with my husband to the pharmacy to get some fresh air. I had a prescription for liquid Tylenol, he dropped it off yesterday they had to order it. It was 8 bottles, 8 bottles. I started laughing and Said I could not possibly need all that. They said it's special order and that's how it comis. Oh and yes 50.00. I have spent a small fortune on all this stuff.

I could not find liquid tylenol at any store. Tried crushing two tylenol pills. OMG I almost lost them. That is a very bad tasting crushed pill. I finally ordered some through Amazon, and then found a Walgreens here who carries it so I will get some tomorrow. I am still taking a pain pill at night to get to sleep... Hope I can sub liquid tylenol tomorrow night and be done with pain pills.
Not to mention the vitamins and calcium I got through Opurity, the Unjury protein powder, the many, many protein shakes. But hey I can eat for, like, $1.00 a day now! One can of refried beans gave me six meals
As others said, you've got time to figure this out. I've never had to take any meds so this is all new to me. Im 12 days post op. Things that helped get me in a routine:
- a pill organizer thing as someone mentioned.
- a reminder in my phone for my b12, as it's only every other day.
- a one litre water bottle thing. My goal was one, now I drink two.
- i also made sure to walk around for bit between tv shows or whatever I was watching. Never stayed sitting more than an hour at time when I got home during the day. Plus a 20 minute walk in the am.
Good luck.
You sound like you have it figured out already! Impressed! I am still making myself walk several times a day... But then I am old. I wonder how long I can get away with that excuse.
Lol hardly! Throughout this whole process, the only thing that stressed me out was the potential for getting blood clots. ( no more than any other surgery, just a risk post op). I asked what I could do to reduce the risk, they said the main thing is to get up and walking and keep moving as soon as you can. So that's what I did!
And for the rest, I saw tips n here, and sucked up as much info as I could, like it's my job!
I have to take 28 days worth of Lovenox blood thinner, injections into my belly. Yuck, yuck, yuck. Worst part by far. I dread every simgle one. My insurance company denied the last three days today and will only pay for 25 days. Secretly, yay!
Are Lovenox injections giving off impressive-looking bruise spots you hopefully are making into an artistic smiley-face design on your abdomen? DH seemed way too eager to volunteer administrating Lovenox shots for me. He didn't always wait for my "3-2-1 ready" command from underneath the pillow I held tightly up to my face, either.
