What is on your Tuesday Menu RNYers?
I've seen some people need three rounds of iron infusions the first time before they get them up. And anything below 50, they start to feel it. Mine was 37 last time it was checked, and I felt it. It was 324 before, and I liked that.
Fingers crossed for Arun. Let us know!

Thanks Grim, that's pretty much what I suspected. I am off to get an order done for another Iron Infusion. I think I will be getting several done, not what I want but I NEED to start feeling better!!! No wonder I am tired all the time and can't concentrate!!! Grrrrr
Fingers crossed in a year from now after multiple infusions I will be in the triple digits!!
Will keep you posted on how Hubby does with the team!

Good luck. I wish JB's idiot doctors would order infusions for her. I should bring her over the border and get some of that good Canadian iron.

I will loan JB one of my outfits, if she straightens her hair and throws on a pair of heels she can pass for me! LOL
Maybe its time for JB to find a new doctor, this low Iron is nothing to wait on a duffus of a doctor. I work at a hospital, I have lots of nurse, doctor, surgeon friends. I didn't even bother with my family doctor cuz she is an idiot. I asked one of my surgeon friends to write and order for the Iron Infusion for me and one of my nurse friends does the infusion, its very convenient.
But yes JB needs to get her Iron done soon before she ends up like me with a Ferritin of 4 because I kept listening to the idiot RN at my WLS centre who kept telling me that my Iron was fine and to "try this Iron pill". Sometimes we just have to take our own health into our own hands and force the issue!!!

You have to get the number up before you can stay there. You might need as many as 3.
I like mine over 50. I do not absorb iron and I have other medical issues. I get mine checked twice a year and if it goes down I get an infusion. It's really been staying up lately and I'm grateful.
IV iron can really make you feel much better. Hope you feel that way soon.
ferritin? I like mine 100 -200...Under 50 - I can feel it getting low - when it drops below 30 -I get infused - typically 4 infusions of dextran - one a week.
Since I start using iron patches - my iron and ferritin are holding... you may try that.
ferritin 8 - no wonder you are tired... I am glad you are getting infused...

Thank you Hala for your note, I think it will be "several" infusions before I see some good numbers and start feeling better. The exhaustion is starting to take a toll on me.
I just started on the PatchMD patches, I take the multi, Iron, VitD/Calcium and an oral B12, but I only started two weeks ago on the patches so I need to wait a bit to see....
Thanks for your help & insight!
