Awesome! You're well on your way! A lot of people drink coffee post op without issue, but I was advised to avoid anything considered to contribute to ulcers. I tried switching to just herbal teas, but in the end, I was very happy with decaf! Gave me the cozy feeling I want from coffee, the caffeine withdrawals were non existent in my case.

research, research, research.  Both are good surgeries and you'll find most people are very happy with their choice.

I chose RNY for two reasons - 1) because I had mild GERD when I was pre-op.  RNY often cures GERD, while VSG can often make it worse (in both cases, not always - but often).  I didn't want to risk making it worse (btw - mine is completely gone now).   2)  RNY is an older surgery and has lots of research behind it.  They know about potential long-term consequences and what to do to prevent them.  I found that reassuring.

If you dont mind me asking what is GERD?  True the RNY has been around alot longer than the sleeve.

Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (I had to look it up!).  It's basically chronic heartburn/acid reflux.
