Like sands through the hour glass... My magic months are slipping away

I would go with  applesauce (natural no sugar added). The natural sugar in there is fructose not glucose.

And the applesauce at least has FIBER, vitamins and minerals.

The BBQ sauce is just empty calories that make your food wet.

I veto the BBQ sauce!

When you're far enough out I wouldn't say BBQ sauce is something to be SCARED of per se. But it's definitely not something to make food wet and slippery. That implies almost coating food to me. BBQ sauce is very sugary and IF I use it I use a tiny tiny tiny amount when I'm very low on calories for the day and the chicken I'm eating happens to be dry. I would only use it on the side of something and put the tins of my fork in to get a bit of taste on it and not dip into it like I used to.

I would be wary of the BBQ sauce for sure and not use it like your nut is implying.

NO!

No BBQ sauce!

There is sugar in there!  It does NOTHING for you.

My pouch too is bigger after revision. I have only felt full once and can eat anything. This just means I have to watch portions and what I eat much closer and not depend on the pouch to tell me NO.

I feel 1000 cals should still be ok, as long as you are not taking too many carbs and doing some exercise every day to get metabolism moving.

I too am in a very slow period after the first 3 months, but know this is only temporary and trying to switch up my diet and exercise to get the weight loss moving again.

Since everyone is different in the way our bodies react, we have to do a lot of experimenting and change ups to get the results we want.

It will happen, and we will reach your BMI goal eventually, as long as we do not give up and learn to enjoy the journey.

Best to you.

I am at a slowwww pace the last few weeks. I am losing about a pound per week the last 3 weeks, but the first week in the slow period or so saw a big drop in size so it did not really bother me.

The last week of slow again made me look at working to change up my diet some, and change my daily workouts, and hope it shakes something loose. Maybe lower from the 1200 cals the NUT told me to up to because of my workouts, and watching my carb intake closer to stay below 15 grams per day to see if that helps.

It is funny that everyone has a different direction to offer, and no one thing works for everyone. I hope I find my break free point soon.

Calories matter. Working out just won't make much of a dent. And 1200 calories is what a lot of people maintain on.

Cut calories. 1200 is just way too much. 600 is good. Sticking with 1200 will just get you really angry at yourself a year from now.

I'm 6'3", and never got close to 1200 when I was losing, and I worked out a lot.

I am 2.5 years out of my RNY and have lost over 200 pounds.  I have nearly a thousand days logged into MyFitnessPal -- and I weigh and measure everything.  I tell you this because I am sure of my numbers.

To lose weight, I must eat under 940 calories.  That is SLOW weight loss.  To lose at a more rapid rate, I must eat under 700 calories.  I am at maintenance at 950 calories and start to very slowly gain at anything over 1000 calories a day.  I eat under 40 grams of total carbs per day, over 80 grams of protein and do not limit fats.

I think your surgeon is misadvising you.  I think if you talk to those of us who've actually lived with the RNY and who've reached a "normal" BMI, you will see that especially during the weight loss/honeymoon stage, we eat FAR less than 1000 calories a day.

I hope this helps.

edited to add: also, it is largely a myth that we feel "full" -- I feel hungry all the time.  It isn't the same as before surgery -- but I am definitely hungry.  I just choose not to live the life of an obese person any more.

I hate to ask you to take the time to do this, but do you have a sample or ideas of things to eat to keep calories that low while getting in that much protein ? Thank you for the information you have already given . I can see that the calories must fall .
