Please help! Very sick. ER or Primary?
Help! I'm a little over a year out RNY. 35 pounds lost (long story). I have had central, upper and lower abdominal bloating and PAIN for nearly five years now. Been to the ER three times, always comes out fine. Then I go home and live with the pain. I've tried all the OTC's, surgeon prescribed anti-intestinal spasm meds that did not work. I suffer now with the same severe bloating, pain, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting occasionally, NO appetite (makes me sick to think of eating, sometimes makes my stomach pain worse; nausea, vomiting) can barely get myself to drink, extreme fatigue, insomnia, headaches, joint pain, back pain, feeling of swollen, hot feet, excess phlegm that I cough and spit out, general feeling of SICKNESS, thirsty, pee is totally clear, stools were fatty once, stools always change, sides hurt, VERY depressed and scared. I used to have SIBO (Small Intestine Bacterial Overgrowth) and think I have it again.
I'm calling my Primary tomorrow to find a GI, as she wanted me to get an endoscopy. She thought an ulcer maybe? But I show no signs of an ulcer.
If anyone recognizes any of these symptoms as an urgency or a pattern, please let me know. I'm sick every day.
SIBO and IBS.
Plus you may have twisted bowels...that often don't show on catscan, only in surgery.
With SIBO and IBS - that can cause leaky gut - when they can cause food allergy - I have all of that.
The only thing that works is to treat SIBO plus a very strict diet...very very strict diet.
Low FODMAP + SCD diet. Avoiding food you are allergic to. For years or ever.
Even when you do that - stress can cause more gut pain. Just because. But nothing like when I don't follow good diet.
On top of that - when I get treated for SIBO - I also get treated for Candida... You most likely have that also...very likely...

Yikes! Sounds like my story. Get yourself a good GI doc. Mine is treating me for SIBO now, and then endoscopy next week with biopsies to test for celiac disease. This seems out of the hands of a primary doc. I started with my surgeon, and he got me in to see his preferred GI right away.
Good luck!

Thank you Flo. I spent 7 hours there. They took blood, urine. Re-hydrated me (I wasn't dehydrated though) , gave me something for pain and took six x-rays of my chest. Everything came out 'fine', again. Except, I have a UTI that needs antibiotics and they gave me something for the nausea. Then sent me home. I'm still in the same shape I was yesterday! It took me five hours to eat a banana and I'm PUSHING down what liquids I can, which is not much. I'm so sick.
I have an appointment with my surgeon next Thursday. I'll have died of malnutrition by then!
Update: I saw my surgeon and he is baffled. I'm able to eat again without nausea and drink more now. So that's good. My bowels are all back to normal. Still a lot of pain in the lower abdomen, sometimes under my belly button, under each breast and by my gall bladder. He pushed down on my stomach, and ordered ultrasound to look for kidney or gall stones. Ouch! And he ordered an EGD because I "might" have some sort of ulcer. And new nut panel. He kinda dismissed me when I mentioned my history of SIBO though. I'M researching the crap out of my symptoms and am completely lost, as are my doctors. I can't handle this pain, mentally or physically. I'm so confused.
