Advancing my diet
I will be two weeks out on Monday, and my paperwork from the surgeon says I can advance to soft foods at two weeks. Yesterday they called and changed my appointment to Wednesday. Surely I don't have to wait until after my appointment to advance? This occurred to me last night. Anyway, any tips? Recommendations for what to try first/ avoid? I am tolerating my liquids and shakes very well.

I waited. I waited almost three weeks for my 2 week appointment, and over 5 weeks for my 4 week appointment.
I know that waiting sucks. But nothing bad can happen from waiting, and you will likely drop a couple of extra pounds. Set aside what you'd like to do, and set your mind to doing more. Whatever bars have been set for you, do a little better. If they say 600 to 800 calories, our heads tell us 800. Try for the 600. If they say 20-50 carbs, our heads say 50 is ok. Aim for 20.
You know those signs on the highway that say speed "limit?" If the speed limit is 65, everyone drives at LEAST 68. Anyone under 65 gets flipped off. It's in our nature. With food, it's time to reverse the thinking. Do more than you need to, not just the minimum. Nothing bad will happen, I promise.

I waited until I had my appointments and was approved to advance by the surgeon. Remember, this is a small blip on your overall journey, A few months from now and you will barely remember this. If you really want to advance, call your surgeon's office and ask if it is okay.
